Depending on your taste in movie genres, Die Hard With A Vengeance rivals and possibly surpasses the original. I agree with all that you said. It's one of my favorites and is NO WAY a p.o.s.

I agree that DHWAV isn't a p.o.s. but it in no way rivals let alone surpases the original. In fact Die Hard is my favourite action movie of all time and imo there are very few movies that just about rival it and DHWAV isn't one of them, although an awesome movie in its own right.

I, personally, prefer Die Hard With A Vengeance because it has great action mixed with great humor. Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis had great chemistry together, as well.

Die Hard is so close, but it isn't my absolute favorite of the trilogy.

I disagree with the notion that a director who hasn't directed big budget action before, can't...If this where MSJ, or something who has had his share of big budget action movies and bombed across the board I would be more willing to go with it, but so far Wisemen has directed two underbudget movies, that kind of became an underground hit. The frist Underworld was very quality, the second not so much, but that was more of a story issue imo

From whatr I hav seen, this looks absolutley stellar, and Timothy Olyphant is going to rule all as a bad guy

I never said that Len Wiseman couldn't direct a big budget action film. I just said that I don't really like Len Wiseman. The Underworld movies are sub-par, IMO.

I'm not really looking forward to this only because it dosen't seem like a die hard flick.
He dosen't even LOOK like the John MaClean charecter it just looks like Bruce Willis blowing s**t up.

which looks awesome, that's good enough for me!

this movie is fast becoming my most anticipated movie of the summer

But that's John McClane in a nutshell, Bruce Willis blowing s**t up!! I didn't see the original Die Hard in theaters, but I remember the commercials for it, and I was like, "That's the dude from Moonlighting! And He's blowing stuff up!!"

McClane was always the reluctant hero. Len Wiseman has completely missed the mark with Die Hard. But, what are we supposed to suspect from the genius behind Underworld?

Did you miss the line "All you have to do is drive down to jersey and pick up a kid"... or something like that. He did't go, "So were are those terrorist that keep popping up every so often!?"

my god, first rocky now this.....c'mon,im sure bruce can get other parts.

I was excited for this till I saw the trailer. Like I said..what really puts me off is that it dosen't look ANYTHING like John MaCleane.
It really does detract from the whole DH4 thing. It just looks like it could have ANY title over it instead of Die Hard 4.

His job is to transfer the kid from Jersey to Washington, that's all and he gets caught in the middle of all the terrorists trying to kill the kid, that's vintage McClane and how doesn't he look like McClane ?

^Yeah. It's not like McClane turns into supercop and offers himself to take on the terrorists.

y'know what they should do? remake Die Hard trilogy, the game.

the original had a lot of potential, but when you look at what they wanted to do there, and when you look at what developers can do these days, it just feels like it's missing something.

just take the basic ideas and spin it to what they can easily do today: DH1 as a 3rd person stealth/action game (like MGS); DH2 as a FPS (instead of an on-rails, Virtua Cop-esque shooter); and DHWAV as a GTA-like sandbox game.

then you get LFODH, with the best parts of each of those, fit into the appropriate places... bang! DH saga in an AWESOME gaming package.

oh, who am I kidding? never gonna happen... :(

it's the lack of the receding hairline. at least to me. shave his mustache in 16 blocks, and you have exactly how McClane should've looked in this.

I'm inclined to agree with Jack.

As superficial as it is, to me it just doesnt look like McClane without the receding hairline.

To me, Willis (as demonstrated in the 4th pic) as McClane looks vastly different from his previous outings - so much so that he doesnt even look like the character any more - he might as well be playing the fella from Unbreakable.

Dammit - all I could think when watching the trailer was how much it doesnt remind me of a Die Hard film. :csad:

As I said before, it's superficial, it's rediculous, I know - but I gotta say it's bothering me.

But, hey, To all the people who arent concerned by it - - more power to ya.

Enjoy the film.

^Yeah. It's not like McClane turns into supercop and offers himself to take on the terrorists.

But he does in the supercraptastic CGI shots of him making a 10 foot long jump (exaggeration). This is going to be a ridiculous action with CGI mess.

I think the bald works,it is how i'd imagine and older McClane handling a receeding hairline as opposed to

You mean like the 2 ridiculous falls from a much greater height in DHWAV or the building leap that would have killed him in Die Hard or being blasted into the sky in an ejector seat in Die Hard 2 ?

The CGI was really good IMO but that part i guess we'll just have to disagree on

I thought I was the only one to remember that game.

Very awesome that game was.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the shots people think were done with CG were actually practical. You'd be surprised at what Wiseman did on the Underworld films without even touching CGI.
