Logan Logan spoiler thread discussion

Does Laura speak any English in the film, or is it all in Spanish?

She starts off as a mute. Then suddenly she starts speaking in Spanish and Logan is like WTF is up with you not saying anything until now? Then later in the movie she mostly switches to English.

Logan

Wow! This film is amazing! Fox Studios congrats. From start to finish this film grabbed you by the throat and held on. The brutality from the opening scene to the endearing moments between Logan, professor X and X-23; this film didn't just kick ass but also landed emotional punches to the gut. Hugh Jackman killed it as Logan, watching him reminded me of Old Snake (MGS4), Joel (The Last Of Us) and of course Wolverine. This is a no nonsense, no ******** film that was well deserved for Jackman. I'm seeing this again at the end of the week.

9/10

10/10

First 10/10 I have given any movie in many years. It's that good. Action, story, character development. Everything is solid.

Just got in from seeing the movie. I absolutely loved it...

Plot and major spoilers below

The film starts with Logan walking up in his Camero while some thugs are trying to steal the wheels. He goes out to confront them, ends up getting shot a few times and goes into full blown Logan mode. A few legs and arms are left detached from their bodies shall we say. His healing abilities are still viable at this point, we see him ejecting bullets from his body into the sink but he is a complete shadow of him former self.

He travels back to Mexico after getting medication for Charles. They need to keep him in a sedated state due to his powers deteriorating. Caliban notices Logan is suffering adamantium poison and also finds an adamantium bullet Logan was keeping hidden. Logan goes into see Charles who is being kept in that steel dome we seen him in, reason being Charles has seizures which render anyone within range paralysed. Charles confesses to Logan about a new mutant he has been in contact with but Logan dismisses the claim. A few swear words are exchanged. It's very much a stubborn relationship. All three of them are basically just existing together with no purpose.

Donald Pierce jumps into Logans camero when he's out working and asks if he's been in contact with a woman hiding a child(X-23) which Logan tells him to F**K off I believe. Anyways, Logan gets a text on his phone where people have requested a lift and when he turns up it ends up being X-23 and the woman who helped her escape. She offers him £50,000 to drive her to North Dakota which Logan agrees too as he's saving up for a boat.

When Donald confronts Logan where's living asking for the girl, he geniunely has no idea Laura is there. Logan and Donald are talking about Charles, we find out he is wanted by the Government because his mind has been listed as a Weapon of Mass Destruction, hinting to the fact Charles killed alot of people(probably Mutants). It's not until Laura throws a pipe off Donalds head and knocks him out Logan realises she's there. He tells Caliban to take Donald and dump his body, however Donald wakes up and they end up kidnapping Caliban but give Logan the impression they killed him. All hell breaks loose with Laura and Logan killing the majority of people there. Laura dispatches the majority of them while Logan protects Charles...And yes the rumours are true, Laura has claws out her feet and she uses them perfectly. Charles tells Logan she's his daughter which Logan finds out after reading her files she has hidden in her backpack. It literally says DNA Source Code - James Howlett

Charles, Logan and Professor X basically go on the run after that. As they're escaping another attack they get invited to start the night at a families house where they sit and have dinner. Charles tells Logan it's not too late to experience a life with Laura. Logan goes out to help the guy fix his water which is where we encounter X-24, who is a complete clone of Logan including the adamantium skeleton. He kills the family and also kills Professor X by stabbing him in the chest and kidnaps Laura. Logan and X-24 have a little showdown but Logan's abilities are rapidly declining and soon becomes overthrown by X24. X-24 ends up getting rammed into a spike by the owner of the house and then gets half his skull blown off by a Shotgun.

Logan and Laura arrive at North Dakota where they meet all the other test subjects. They inject Logan with a green liquid which is basically a steroid for Mutant Powers, which helps Logan heal some of the wounds he's suffered from X-24. The young Mutants plan their escape the next morning. Logan tells Laura he is not his father and that he basically does not care for her like that. When Logan wakes up all the Mutants are gone and he seems happy, until he release the Reavers are following them. He tries to catch upto them but he's too injured so he injects himself with the rest of the green liquid even though the young mutant told him not too which gives him an energy boost. He's able to dispatch the majority of the Reavers but the steroid soon wears off. He kills Zander Rice and then has a final showdown with X-2 with the help from a few young Mutants, again he's no match for X-24 and ends up getting dragged over a tree stump which penetrates a massive part of Logan's abdominal. It gives Laura enough time to shoot X24 in the head with the adamantium bullet which quite literally blows half of X-24 heads off.

Laura goes over, holds Logan's hand. They both exchange tears and she refers to him as Dad. He smiles and tells her "So this is what it feels like" reference to what Charles said in the house about him experiencing a normal life. He accepts her as his daughter and tells her to not become what they made her into, he sadly dies due to his wounds. The young Mutants bury him, Laura says some words and we see a young mutant with a Wolverine figure dressed in the Yellow Costume. As the young Mutants walk away, Laura walks back to his grave and turns the cross into an X

Any questions, please fire away and I'll try answer them

If you can...can you describe any of the
other mutant kids abilities? Im on the hunt for possible cameos by the New X-Men, which was Laura's first X-Men team in the comics

Ice girl
Two telekinesis boys, one could be Hellion?
Nature girl
There's also a boy with scaley face

I thought the
leader of the kids' name was Rictor?

Also, the vest X-24 wore reminded me of Liev Schreiber's vest in Origins...

So are thinking that Caliban was the same as from XMA?

I know people can change, and mutants may have longer lifespans, but I liked this Caliban a lot, and disliked the other one.
So for me, my preference is no.
But I won't lose sleep if Mangold says he is.

Just got back from this. Mixed feelings, I liked a lot of elements but was ultimately pretty disappointed. It works well as a grisly send-off to the character and to Jackman's portrayal. I loved Caliban.

The bleak tone was quite overwhelming by the end of it, which I guess you could say was effective film-making, but its relation to the rest of the franchise was always there and not always for the best. Honestly I could have done without the utterly crushing fate of Charles. This kind of melancholy works well for Logan, but why Charles? To give him such a devastating illness is one thing, but to go further and have him destroy the X-Men and kill his "children" as well was just too much. Stewart was fantastic of course, and there were some powerful moments. I might have preferred this film as a whole without him though.

The film feels like a partial remake of The Wolverine in places. I don't think we learned a great deal about the character in this. The beats have been done before. He's been weary, done with life. He's just closer to the brink here, and ultimately dies. I found the evil Logan clone to be a bit lame and out of place, similar to the Silver Samurai before him, though admittedly not as jarring. Laura was good. Switching from mute to bilingual was pretty convenient though wasn't it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like some of your frustration is what Logan does to the franchise as a whole?

Perhaps viewing Logan as standalone, like an alternate ending after the DOFP coda makes the movie better.

What charles meant when he said he remember what he did in weinchester ?

[BLACKOUT]He wiped out 6 mutants & some of them are X-Men.[/BLACKOUT]

It was mentioned in the movie (someone on the radio iirc).

Just saw the movie tonight. It was perfect. 10/10. Even better than Deadpool.

Even though Logan is outmatched by X-24, does he at least get a few good licks in during their final fight?

I imagine he'd have to in order for Laura to have enough time to shoot the S.O.B.

Logan vs 24 is an awesome match. You should wait and see for yourself.

I just watched the movie and loved it, i only have a some questions and would be glad if you answered it...
- Logan was poisoned by what? why is his healing factor fading?
- Why that adamantium bullet can kill him?
and is x 24 really dead? his healing factor was perfectly good so why did he died by that adamantium bullet

I did not read the comic books so i don't know everything please don't be mad at me for asking that
And sorry for the grammar mistakes, english is not my first language

Those have seen it, how does it rank with the MCU and Nolanverse films? Where would you place it?

It's unknown what was really killing him. His belief is the adamantium was wearing his body down and because of all these factors his healing factor was apparently fading.

Wolverine was shot previously by an adamantium bullet and it knocked out his memory but he eventually healed from it. So yes I suppose 24 isn't really dead he could bounce back from that. For all we know, the organization picked up 24 body and revived him after the movie but more likely they would just reclone Logan again with someone else in charge.

For Wolverine, while his body is weakened, the scientist clearly said he can help Wolverine fix his problem. Wolverine obviously didn't care so he shot him but that doesn't mean others won't follow. Eventually I assume fox is going to bring Wolverine back down the road many years from now with a new actor (you know fans will want it) so digging up his body and trying to revive his body is likely where I assume that picks off from.

1. He was poisoned by the adamantium injected from Weapon X Project. I'm glad that they went that route since even Lady Deathstrike (who has healing factor) was dead when being injected with too much adamantium.

2. I don't think X-24's healing factor is perfect since they had to use that serum to revive him. I guess it has something to do with Origins but I only watch that movie once lol.

There are a lot of people saying it's close to the Dark Knight. You can't really compare it to the MCU. It is much more ambitious than even the best MCU films have been, but it goes for a different angle.
