Logical Timeline Between Origin To X1

Even though I prefer the "disregarding X1 Sabretooth" idea, I gotta ask WHAT is the problem with clones?

Benioff did a good job with his use for them in the script, and obviously producer Jackman and director Hood approved.

Clones do exist people, and in time they will be people.

Oh, and did I mention this was a sci-fi/action movie about 200-year-old indestructible wolfmen?
Clones are one of the most cliche comic and sci-fi plot devices around:o Plus it is corny in a live action summer movie.

For a truly epic trilogy of xmen origins : wolverine, I really hope they thought through all three movies first, made each one an individual, but still works in a trilogy quite well, its not like they didnt know xmen origins wolverine 1 would be amazing and would at least constitute one sequel.

Even though I myself don't like the clone concept, the idea that at the end of the movie the filmmakers purposely make Sabertooth into a weaker character is just atrocious. Why on earth would you want him to turn into that version of Sabertooth? Honestly, if I had to choose between continuity and characterization, I'd choose characterization every time.

And I agree: Sabretooth from X-1 was a moron, but we have to face the fact that they're going with continuity. That's all I'm saying. I'd rather they not try to explain it cheaply with clones, since that is, as another poster said here, cliched.

I dont want clones either, but it beats Schreiber becoming Mane.

*also, we are not yet sure if they're going with continuity in regards to Sabretooth.

If we get lucky they'll throw continuity out the window and keep this re-invention of the character a re-invention.

Possibly, but only on Creed's part. Everything else they've done with the continuity isn't bad.

That's what I'm hoping.

If they're planning on doing a sequel in Japan, when would that take place d'ya think? After the X-Movies, or just after WV:O?

Sabretooth and Creed are entirely two different people. But keep in mind that in Origins, Creed is working for the government and hasn't entirely yet become a full out animalistic Sabretooth that we saw in X1 because he is being kept in check by a military-esque team with guidance and rules. It looked as if Sabretooth had been living alone out in the wilderness in X1 and I am sure ran into Magneto who recruited him. Sabretooth had animal skin coats in X1 which to me said that he had been in the wild for some time. I think in this movie we will see Creed's slow transition into the sadistic bastard that we know as Sabretooth. Think of Creed as the more civilized side of Sabretooth. A funny thing about Wolverine and Sabretooth is that Wolverine is trying to become more civilized and get rid of his animalistic side while Sabretooth is embracing his animalistic side and loosing his civilized self.

Still . . . sadistic, cunning fighter to mindless grunt?

Meh.

I agree.

The only real problem is the mess that was X1 Sabretooth.

*I still think the change of dog tags is a message from Jackman to the masses that says "This is a new franchise and not the fourth X-Men movie."

No...I hated Sabretooth in X1...I am just explaining things to keep in mind continuity as others in here are mentioning. Creed to me is more cunning while Sabretooth is the sadistic grunt. Sabretooth was never the bright one of the bunch.

Yeah, but maybe it was more of an aesthetic thing for Hood. He just happened to like these better, but I see what you mean. I'd rather they continue this franchise with Wolverine, then reboot it with that X-Men: First Class thing.

I just want to see Omega-Red and have wanted to see him since X2:o They better do a Wolverine 2 and it better include the Russians. I don't understand why they put in characters like Gambit, Blob, and Emma Frost and leave out pivotal Wolverine origin character like Silver Samurai and Omega-Red.

if this movie can bring in the right amount of green, Wolverine II is a sure bet in 3 years.

and because it ends before 1990, the whole soviet enemy factor can be explored making room for Omega Red.

*I want First Class to stay within the general continuity of these films.

if they wanna re-invent a few things here and there, I'll be fine with it.

fixing things is always a good thing, that is if they were indeed broken (X1 Sabretooth).

Ok if we throw the whole cloning story out and say that somehow Liev's Sabretooth evolved into Mane's, how do we get Liev's back should they do future movies?

Well Liev's Creed will probably never participate in post-X3 movies.

If he returns it will have to be in another pre-X1 movie.

This movie is not supposed to end immediately before the events in X1, Hood and Jackman been talkin Japan so i think there's a 5 year window for a Wolverine II before X1.

I just want Liev to either get killed in this movie honorably in battle with Logan or to survive and continue to haunt Logan in a second movie.

I would prefer NO connection between Liev's character and Mane's, but we'll see.

The only way we will get Liev's Creed again is if they do a sequel to this movie.

If there is no connection between them, than there would be no problem with Liev being in a post-X3 movie. They'd just have to come up with a decent excuse about why Mane's character was not the real Sabretooth.

Wolverine/Jackman will never be in a post X3 movie so there is no reason for Creed/Liev to be in it either:o

you know what? you're right.

If they do disregard Mane's shame, then Liev can participate in X-Men movies too.

I really hope they make post-X3 movies.

you dont know that.

if a Days of Future Past movie (extreme post-X3) ever gets greenlit, Jackman WILL participate.

he said it was amongst his favorite Wolverine/X-Men storylines and would love to shoot it.

problem is that movie would cost at least $300 mil.

I agree. Odds are Jackman will be doing this character for a long time, as long as the fans keep coming back for more and until he looks much older. I don't see him doing this til he's 60.

Jackman also said he doesn't want to play Wolverine for the rest of his life. That caused a bunch of fans to think X3 would be his last movie and that Wolverine might never happen.

I think Jackman's got 10 more years of Wolverine in his future.

he makes great films, dramatic films, in between the Wolverines that dont make as much but showcase his acting abilities and prove that he can do more than just chop people up with claws.

like Eastwood, I think he keeps comin back for more because he loves the character.

Eastwood would do a Dirty Harry and then follow it up with somethin like Outlaw Josey Wales and Pale Rider.

Jackman followed up X3 with The Prestige and The Fountain.

As long as he balances things out, he wont give up the character [and the cash].

Yeah, but more recently he's said that he'd be willing to come back for a second and a third if fans kept wanting him to. That could give us another five years or more with the WV franchise alone.

I'm willing to wait in line. :D
