Supergirl Lois casting

I gather well be getting casting news for Lois Lane soon…..Can't Wait

"Where did you get an idea like that?"

Well Superman is casted, Metropolis is going to be featured, and it's a natural order of things… You can't have Superman without Lois Lane and visa-versa.

It's only a matter of time till Lois !

My choices for Lois would be:

1. Amy Acker. Gorgeous, brilliant, beautiful and immensely talented.

2.Adrianne Palicki. She is a decent actress, beautiful and it would be fun to see her tower over both Cat and Kara

Will add more later

She will end up towering over Superman as well. :o

I disagree.

Look at their facial features and tell me you don't see the similarities.

Kristin Kreuk looks half Asian. Did Sam Lane get together with an Asian woman?

Yes, you can. You completely can.

agreed. If and when Lois even shows up it should be as a supporting character for Lucy (or even Cat), independent of whether Clark/Superman is or isnt on the show.

As per the (somewhat wonky) timeline in the pilot, it was calculated that adult Kara was ~24. Therefore, (off screen) Superman was ~36. Enter: 28 year old Hoechlin. :thf: Now, maybe he can pass for 36. Or maybe we evoke “Kryptonian DNA” to explain his youthfulness. :cwink: But then it gets trickier in terms of casting Lois (who has no alien genetics). Of course, this version of Lois might be younger. It’s more problematic, however, to cast someone like (for example) 39 year old Amy Acker. She’d be fine if the Superman actor conformed to the original timeline age (36) - but not if Superman actor looks conspicuously youngish.

Jenna Dewan Tatum would've made a suitable Lois Lane to Hoechlin's Clark. Now they have to cast someone who is older than her and seems more of a big sister. The problem with Lucy is they made her too grown up and a strong, authoritative woman in her own right, so now they have to go up another level for Lois. If Lucy had seemed younger and more like the kid sister it would've been different.

But wasn't Meghan Ory one of the candidates for Chyler Danvers? What about having her as Lois Lane?

And she's only 33... which is actually younger than Jenna.

I actually dont think this is a problem bc Jenna looks and comes across much younger than she actually is. Age is just anumber and Lucy doesnt feel 35 to me (was shocked to learn Jenna was that old). She easily comes across as Kara's contemporary. They dont need to cast someone older than Jenna; just someone that can be believable as being her onscreen older sister.

Mia Kirshner.

Looks wise, looks like Lois, she'd be a good choice based on that. Unfortunately I don't know what she's like acting wise.

Just had a random thought - newly-minted Emmy-winner Tatiana Maslany for Lois?

Brilliant actress with charisma to spare, and Orphan Black's upcoming season is its final one, so she'd be available soon. And while she's only 2 years older than Hoechlin and therefore younger than Tatum, if you put those two women in a scene together, based on their voices and screen presence, Maslany would totally seem like the older one, imo.

That would work.

American productions get financial/tax advantages by shooting in Vancouver. And I think there’s even more karma ($$$ :cwink:) if the show hires Canadian actors in guest, supporting or starring roles. So Maslany would fill that bill. I would imagine, however, that she’s now a bit too “big” for a guest-starring role on a CW show.

Movies and series under the law have to hire a certain percentage of Canadian actors...

I still don't see them hiring Maslany for any minor roles. It'd have to be a major recurring role to be worth her time.

I didn't like Orphan Black, but Maslany is a tremendous actress and is the only reason I got through the first season at all.

I agree, but I figure if they're gonna go "big" on any casting (not saying they would, but IF), it would be Lois, one of the most iconic female characters in existence. And it's not like Maslany's a moviestar or anything. She's more of an attainable "big," if that makes any sense, lol. I personally think it's only a matter of time before she strikes it big in some blockbuster, but in the meantime, during her post-Orphan Black transition period, this might be a nice gig for her. She does like nerd-friendly properties, and she LOVES female-centric ones.

Supergirl has already gone "big" with casting in securing both Calista Flockhart and Lynda Carter. The former rarely does television any more (her last major project was Brothers and Sisters) and the latter is pretty much guaranteed to bring in an older audience who remembers her from Wonder Woman.

I'm hoping when Lois appears she's got this type of look and style.

The purple outfit is a nod to Superman: the animated series.

Saw someone suggest Autumn Reeser online a few weeks ago. Works for me.

Now feels like a good time to bump.

Also JODI LYN O'KEEFE!

Also Caroline Dhavernas.

Tatiana Maslany would be a great choice... but I think they will cast a unknown actress for the role. We have to wait and see.
