Weird this is.......during the early 90's, before Chris Reeve's accident, there were plans for a fifth Superman film. That would see Superman die, Lois suddenly become pregnant, and have a baby who becomes a man at a super accelerated rate. Baby is the new Superman. Now that is bizarre.

Brainac shrinking Metropolis at least fits in with the original Brainiac character but most of the ideas that came out of the aborted attempts of the 90's where utter bullcrap. To think, people have a problem with Singer’s version. Compared to what we could have had…

Yeah, if people looked at the script, direction and casting ideas that were aborted through these years, they will call the whole Superman absence and Lois has a kid thing a masterpiece and Brandon Routh is the pure incarnation of Supes... Remember when Superman wasn´t going to fly and he´d have polar bears as guards of the FOS? Krypton not exploding? Lex as a Kryptonian? The black goth Superman suit? Sean Penn as Superman? Nic Cage as Superman? A McG Superman movie with Beyoncé as Lois?

it was one of many scripts during the period when wb where trying deperately get superman off the ground. This and other scripts at the time centred around the death and rebrith of superman (like the comic). This was one of the ideas at the time to bring superman back after he died.

It's quite a stroke of lucky that, of all the attempts to make a Superman movie an all the millions spent, the one actually getting made is the most faithful to the comics and the previous movies.

So I doubt he will become new Superman someday
