Darkseid being a clone of Zod?

No....just....no...

I have seen an issue depicting Zod's imperfect clones, the one in the foreground looks just like Darkseid. Wikipedia says the following on Zod:

"he attempted to take over Krypton. He created an army of robotic duplicates of himself, all bearing a resemblance to Bizarro. He was sentenced to the Phantom Zone for his crimes."

My story ties everything together with the inorganic/imperfect clones.

What if they made Vril Dox/Brainiac Kryptonian? That way we could have both "mind over muscle" and some good fights.

To make it connect with the old movies Lex could have a plot to unleash a deadly gas pellet that nearly kills everyone in Metropolis, where then Lex and Brainiac can rebuild a new world of their own.
