LOL Brandon Routh in Lacrosse version of The Mighty Ducks

Don't say that man. It might prove to be true, but we don't know that yet. The only actor who I believe was really "cursed" by Superman was George Reeves, who literally got cut out of a major movie because they thought people would laugh at "Superman" being in it. Reeve was never really "cursed." He shot himself in the foot, turning down roles that could have propelled his career further in favor of other ones.

Routh is getting these roles because Superman Returns was an underwhelming movie and because he's not a very good actor.
Routh wasn't exactly getting roles before Superman so I think that the Superman role is a net gain for him. Sure the roles are crappy but he is consistently working and his films are being released.

I don't know why he isn't getting better roles because he got good reviews for his performance in Returns (I didn't like it) and he is tall and attractive white guy. Hollywood doesn't care about bad acting so surely that didn't factor into it. I mean surely he can wiggle his way into some lame big blockbuster playing second fiddle to another actor. It's just odd.

Don't be so quick to judge: the gender double-standard can have negative effects on male actors too. Notice how there's not really a male equivalent of Megan Fox out there, a horrible actor who gets work just on looks. The closest thing for male actors is Channing Tatum and Josh Hartnett, and even Channing has recently shown some gifts for comedic timing, and Josh hasn't really been hot fuzz for a few years now.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any male actors who can get by on looks alone.

No, rest assured, Channing Tatum is still getting by on his looks alone.

I don't care how good 21 Jump Street might have been. It was one movie. He needs to do a little more before he can convince me that he's nothing more than a cardboard cutout of a real actor.

Well i think for reeves and reeve the "curse" also refers to the tragic events that befell them. The suspicious suicide of reeves and the accident to reeve.

Well, yeah, but I was referring to their careers. Personally, I find the other things that happened to them tragic and I don't think it should be trivialized like that. Murder (or suicide) and life-altering accidents are too serious to be chocked up as part of some dumb Hollywood superstition.

The trailer for this got laughs from the audience I saw the Avengers with.

I saw Avengers in a sold out packed theater.

Frankenweenie had silence
Brandon Routh Lacrosse movie had people chuckling
Expendables 2 had people cheering (When Chuck Norris, Willis, Schwarzenegger showed up)
The Dark Knight Rises had some dead silence, people watched intently, and then claps

The Lacrosse movie didn't fit in with the other films. It looked like a direct-to-video movie, like the kind you find in a 2nd grade teacher's collection inside her classroom to show her kids when she's bored with giving lessons.

Ergo, Frankenweenie and the Dark Knight Rises must be equally good movies. :woot:

I'm shocked that the trailer for this movie is playing in theaters at all, let alone with The Avengers.

Hahaha, no, TDKR had claps after it was over.... and you could tell there was a different type of silence between Frankenweenie and TDKR. As soon as the DC Logo appeared with TDKR, the whole theater shut up. I think most people knew it was the Batman trailer.

Yeah, my theater (and it was jam-packed) was dead quite during the Frankenweenie trailer. I think it just took people by surprise. Most of them were probably like, "Huh?" I'm not sure that movie is going to do well, mainly because a black-and-white cartoon (even a CGI one) is a tough sell for today's GA.

People were quiet for TDKR, but once the trailer was over, but I think it's because they were engaged by it. There were a number of cheers once it was over.

I would have rather had this trailer then Frankenweenie. With my The Avengers showing

I think Frankenweenie might be fun. I just don't think it's going to be a hit. It looks better than this at least (IMO).
