I think the guy is mentally ill, that's the key thing, it's not really about loneliness or whatnot.

"Normal" depressed people think about killing themselves, but to cut off a major body part, much less THAT one, is seriously messed up.

I foresee him probably committing suicide in the future, unless he gets some major psychological help. His reasoning was "I don't want to go through life with a penis if I can't find someone." But if he thought it was bad enough before, now how is he going to go through life knowing he cut off his penis? Every time he wants to use the bathroom, it will remind him of the incident. And if he does ever meet someone, then he won't even want to get close to them.

In the next reboot of the Spider-Man film series, Dr Curt Connors is going to try to grow back his penis instead of his arm.
