Long and SPOILER filled synopsis of Thor Ragnarok

Thanks so much for this. I've mentioned before that watching the movie will be different then reading about it, but it's nice to have something as a heads up.

I must say I'm not fond of the Thor leaving Loki being electrocuted and laughing. I know Loki is Loki, but that just seems like a ****ing dick thing to do.
Anyways thanks.

Yeah all he wanted is acceptance.

First post!

Just came back from a screening. IMO, when Thor electrocutes Loki it's kind of justified. He mentions somewhere that Loki has been trying to kill him ever since they were 8 years old (Loki transformed himself into a snake and surprised Thor when he was trying to pet it, as he apparently is fond of snakes).

Also, Thor throwing things at Loki becomes a running gag to check if Loki was actually present in the room. Before the the big Hulk fight, Loki appears and talks to Thor in his mirror form.

Haha nice I didn't actually spot the reason for that :P

And yeah IMHO Loki deserves it for a plethora of reasons. It's not just for shock laughs or anything. I almost forgot about the snake thing :P

^^ was it confirmed that the grassy field where odin died was on earth? I remember Dr. Strange saying something about him being in Norway but quickly backpedalled.

Yes, it was in Norway. Doctor Strange pushed Thor and Loki through a portal from the Sanctum to a field in Norway which is where Odin had chosen to die. I remember Odin commenting to them how beautiful it is, and how Asgard is 'a people not a place' meaning the planet can be destroyed but as long as the Asgardian people survive it can be rebuilt anywhere, like on earth, which then ties into the end of the film and Thor's decision to destroy Asgard to stop Hela.

Thanks, fin! I guess it also cements his decision to go to earth after being undecided on what to do after asgard is cosmic dust :p

But, my God if that was Thanos' ship on the mid-credits... it's FREAKIN' HUGE!!! I wonder if they're the first casualties of Infinity War.

You know, Asgard still existing in some form (as scattered cosmic debris and dust admittedly) means that Hela still surely exists in some form. It was said repeatedly throughout the film that she draws her power from Asgard and she cannot be defeated while Asgard (the place) exists. Well, it does still exist, just in a more broken down form, so... :cwink: She is so still alive, nothing is convincing me otherwise. Also, where the hel(l) did Surtur and Hela disappear to once Asgard imploded?? How can they just disappear?? Gah, it's all so interesting.

And yes, Thanos' ship is frigging huge. Bigger than I expected.

Come to think about it, part of that cosmic dust is the Bifrost. Maybe we can assume they got ported elsewhere, perhaps Sakaar? :p

That so should have been at the end of the post-credits scene with the Grandmaster. Imagine Surtur and Hela tumbling though the 'Devil's Anus' (:hehe:) portal and falling on top of him. End scene. :funny:

Or maybe even just in the same shot with the portal in the far distance, and something big and flaming falls after he said it's a tie :D

^^ Thor vs Hulk, Hela vs Asgardians, Valkyrie vs spaceships, Lightning Thor vs undead Asgardians

Favorite action scene(s)?

The Thor vs Nerfed Surtur and his minions at the beginning is awesome, as is any Thor vs Hela fight, they're both badass fighters and it's mighty impressive to see them going at it viciously. Hela vs the entire Asgardian army is crazy badass. The entire final fight (fighting, fighting everywhere) culminating in Hela trying to take on Surtur is frigging awesome. And there's a good space ship chase through Sakaar when the Revengers are trying to escape.

So what is you guys opinion on the Thor vs Hulk fight?

IMO, the Thor/Hulk fight shows much growth and confidence in Thor's fighting skills... which I found severely lacking in previous films and was reliant on Cap's strategies. Here, he's more tactical, thinks on his feet, and uses everything at his disposal against Hulk.

Clearly, he won that fight.

did Thor had any good shots at Hela or he was just tanking basically????

He definitely gets some good shots in, but the problem is that Hela is so strong and durable that you can literally stab her through the chest (which one Einharjar does at one point) and she just brushes it off and carries on. She's presented as being virtually indestructable.

^^ yep. It's also shown that he stabs Hela a couple of times, but she just shrugs it off.

In the Bifrost final melee, Juiced up Thor also mentions that he had given Hela all his best lightning attack, to no effect.

Does it show him attacking her with the lightning?

so basically she is immortal unless you nuke Asgard???

interesting.

I dont think it was shown anymore, but Hela was the first recipient of his lighning in the final fight. It was so intense that she gets thrown off.

It's stated in the movie that the longer Hela stays on Asgard, the more powerful she becomes.

Yeah someone said that Odin says she would be be unbeatable in Asgard, sounds like Odin Force Hela to me.
