What do bad girls usually wear though? Certainly not what her current outfit is.

There have been updated interpretations of her classic costume that make her look great.

But I'll wait for the sequel to see what changes they make.

People are still complaining about Harley's costume? I thought we were done with this ****.

^ We'll nevah be done with this ****! It's such a pivotal topic. :o Screw world hunger.

I still can't believe the ditched Harley's classic (or "iconographic", as Ayer so nicely put it) look for a rip-off of a singer's outfit. Yes, a rip-off. So much for creativity.
But it's all right, because Harley "choose to wear it". The fictional character had a say in this whole thing. :funny: Oh Ayer, you silly billy.

Also, next up: Batman dressed up as Elton John, because "iconography".

^spoken like an uncreative person who doesn't understand how creative choices are made. Did you know Elvis's "iconic" look was a "rip-off" of Captain Marvel Jr.? Probably not.

As if there's anything "creative" about using the "classic" costume. #badfanlogic

I did not know that, actually. And hey, I'm not uncreative. I... um... wear funny hats from time to time. :(
Seriously though, when did a rip-off of Debbie Harry's outfit become part of Harley Quinn's "iconography"? Wouldn't the iconic jester costume fit the definition far better?

I commend Ayer for sticking by his creative choices, even if I strongly disagree with him, but there's no reason to resort to non-sensical excuses and strawmen.

Well, the mere feat of adapting such a cheesy costume for a live-action movie definitely requires far more creativity than simply stealing stuff from Debbie Harry's wardrobe. Just saying. :oldrazz:

Margot said the jester costume was one of the costumes they tested and is a photo of one of the costumes, maybe a photo Margot in the jester costume will also be released.

If they do, it would be interesting to see it. I saw an image of the leather version of her jester outfit for a video game (I think it was Arkham Knight), and it looked pretty cool.

Harley has become a characters who wears a lot of different outfits
In a way that has spurred people who love to cosplay her different looks and this has only contributed to her popularity

Not a big deal at all imo
Of course I think the hot pants and heals are ridiculous to fight in but even Wonder Woman has heels in BvS so I can't complain too much.

That'd be cool. It'd also probably make me even more disappointed, but, you know, that's details. :o

True, and yet none of those alternate outfits was picked for this movie either.

I just think it's a shame that, in the same year that will see Deadpool and Doctor Strange resplend in front of the masses in all their comic book-accurate glory, Harley Quinn fans (the unhappy ones, anyway) will have to settle for Debbie Hunter's stolen clothes.

Heck, even Psylocke is getting her due. Freaking Psylocke, how is her costume any harder to adapt than Harley's.

^ I love that part. If all her humorous moments are of the same quality, we're in for a treat.

I am the opposite and hope that there are less moments like that, as I, personally, did not find that to be funny, but rather annoying instead. Then again, I am a miserable, joyless git. Everyone in the cinema will probably be laughing and enjoying themselves, while I will be sitting there with my perpetual frown. Maybe during the movie, it will come across better to me.

What kind of humour would you prefer instead? If any at all. I mean, we're talking about Harley Quinn here, being "quite vexing" at times is kinda her shtick.

Ha, that is so me.

In all seriousness, I am not hard to make laugh, but I have to say that while I am looking forward to Margot Robbie playing Harley, a lot of her lines that were meant to be funny in the trailer such as "we're the bad guys, it's what we do" I found to be kind of cheesy and cringe-inducing, rather than funny. I am sure there will be lots of moments in this movie that I will find to be funny, but going by what I have seen in the trailers, I do not think they will come from Harley. Unless those scenes come across better in the movie that is.

I don't think Margot's Harley is particularly funny, but she doesn't annoy me either. It's not my humor, but I appreciate the lines all the same. This goes for most "funny" characters in movies, really. I rarely laugh out loud in the cinema.

I don't even disagree, I had a problem with a few of her "humorous" lines too (especially in the bar scene).
But I still think the vexing one works. Probably because of dat pouty face. Maybe she's just better at conveying humour with her expression than with her vocal performance, if that makes any sense.

The humor may also work better in the full film than in the trailers as well, that's how Deadpool was for me.

I agree even though I don't hate the costume. Would've been better (imo) for us to see her wearing the jester suit in this outing as opposed to waiting down the line for it.

I don't see the appeal of the jester costume. It sorta works in the cartoons, but in live action on Margot in Ayer's Suicide Squad...I just don't think it would look the best. Plus, I'm not sure it would have fit in with the art design and character designs of the film all that well. I'd like to see her in it in a behind-the-scenes picture, but I'm not sad that it wasn't the costume they decided to go with.

Besides, there are better looking Harley costumes.

Boy, I'll never tire of the self-pitying "Well, ______ and ______ have comic-accurate costumes, how could _______ not?!?"

Margot appears to be delivering on the acting front. IDGAF about the court jester costume not being her go-to look in the film.

It's not self-pitying, some just wanted a different costume. There's nothing wrong in them saying so.

Ehhh it's a little self-pitying. So Psylocke will be running around in her ridiculously easy to adapt costume. So what?

The funny thing is, I don't even particularly care for comic book accuracy when it comes to costumes, I never did. I mean, it's a nice bonus, but I can live without it as long as the movie's good. Heck, there are some costumes that I hope to never see on the big screen (I'm looking at you, Wolverine).

Wanna ditch the jester costume? Fine, but give me a valid alternative at least. That's what they did with Katana, whose look in this movie I utterly love and approve.
But nope, Debbie Hunter had some clothes to spare, and the denim overalls you were all vehemently asking for just wouldn't have been appropriate for the character, maaaan.

I can't say I'm proud of beating this dead and rotting horse, but Ayer's condescending comments really rubbed me off the wrong way. And that's terrible. :o

Exactly. This is the character's debut on the big screen, save your "creativity" for the sequel.

I was thinking fanboys couldn't more arrogant and now they want approval of the costumes? When will it end? :oldrazz:

It's Debbie HARRY. She's a legend. Show some damn respect and get the name right. :cmad:
