Superman Returns LOOK UP IN THE SKY: THE AMAZING STORY OF SUPERMAN doc trailer

Absolute quality documentary, came in the post yesterday. I like how Jon Peters admits he had no clue about Superman was he forced to say that? Lol.

I had every intenion of buying this , but since WB didn't release it in Australia I had to find an "unoffical" copy.

God bless the internet.

Those designs for Brainiac's Head-Ship looked unreal. Does anyone know if I can find them online?

glad to see someone took my advice. is it dvd quality or really crappy?

I just watched an avi on my 42inch TV. Not exactly DVD quality but still pretty good. I didn't mind it.

It was good...very well put together...it reminded me of "Empire of Dreams".

A few minor complaints...Kevin Spacey narrates and at one point, when talking about SR, he says "and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor"...it woulda been neat to hear him say something like "and yours truly". There also werent enough interviews...for example it woulda been cool to see more of the cast from older movies or even hear from Tom Welling....oh and this could be really minor and if you want more on the making of S:TM then I guess just watch that DVD but...no mention of Jeff East playing young Clark Kent.

But man they sure did dig for some amazing and rare footage. And the best part to me...was that Jon Peters admits his approach to Superman Reborn was all wrong...who knows if it was heartfelt or if he said it cuz he was getting paid to appear in the doc...but I felt like Dave Chappelle and just wanted shout "In yo face!"

Yeah I noticed that. Made Spacey sound like he had a mental condition! :D

It took a lot of guts for Jon Peters to come out and essentially say he had no idea what he was doing and what he was doing has been wrong for 12 years. He earned props in my book. He also earned props in my book for sporting that necklace that he had on.

I hope Kevin Smith watches the doc and see's Jon Peters admit he was missing the mark on his take of Superman at the time...we should email him or hit him up on his Myspace page...the real one.

Yeah agreed. You don't often hear anyone in life admit they were wrong - let alone a Holywood producer.

To admit that in hindsight he just didn't understand the character and it was right that the project didn't get off the ground - very big of him.

....anyone got Tom Rothman's email address? :D

Yeah -- kudos to Peters for admitting his misunderstanding of the character.

Absolutely loved this documentary -- I did frown slightly at the way the WB didn't really tell the whole story around how it "screwed" Siegel and Shuster for decades b/f it agreed to pay them out $20k for life -- but that was expected, and honestly, I think I only wanted this more because the rest of the documentary treats the history with so much accuracy and respect.

Anyways, great job by everyone -- and it was a terrific, insightful few hours of Superman goodness -- and certainly taught me several new things about the George Reeves era that was way before my time. Also loved the new clip of Brando at the end of the credits -- that was classic :-)

Re: George Reeves' age - he was in his late 30s when he started playing Superman. He was 44/45 when he last played the character.

In the first episode, he's supposed to be 25(this is stated explicitly), which I think is the perfect age for Superman to become Superman and the perfect age for an actor to play Superman (if it's an origin), but it was quite ridiculous for Reeves to be playing the character at that age.

can't do anything with torrents, does anyone know if this baby's on youtube or livedigital?

I just bought the 2 disc set.

I've only watched Disc 1. Its pretty cool and well worth the money.

Yeah I was waiting for that too. I was thinking - what about the part where you turned around and fired those two "legendary" creators and then tried to ignore them for the next 30 years? Oh...was that a bad question? :D

They probably held a round table discussion on "How exactly can we give the people at SHH something else to complain about?".....and this idea won.
