Looking back at the first pictures we got of bb in newsweek i realized that they were dated exactly a year before the movie came out. The article was dated 6/15/04. Does this mean that we'll probably get Pics in about 8/9 months? it seems very likely and seeing how Pre-production filming has begun i wouldnt count out the fact of production starting in December instead of Jan. But maybe thats just wishful thinking.

I thought the production is gonna start in Feb.

I hated the first pic I saw of Batman in costume for Begins.

From the lightning It looked like the suit was brown and I was dissapointed that they went the same route as the previous Batman movies being in ALL BLACK.

I thought they was going to start over and go with the designs similar to the Alex Ross Paintings.

Still It looked and worked better on screen than I thought.

I don't know if this is relevant to this thread but I felt I had to say that.

We got the first official stills of the Batmobile in April '04 so if they apply the same approach for TDK we should be getting something around the same time.:yay: At this point i really just want to know who they're going to cast as Dent.

They haven't started filming anything yet. They're in pre-production which means doing designing, storyboarding, costume fittings, building props, scouting locations, budgeting etc.

One of the producers did say that they were probably going to do a 'pre-shoot' in January.

I actually had a very similar reaction to that first pic as well. I was really hoping for a more comic-accurate costume, black and grey, short ears, pockety brown utility belt. The pic of Bale in that big black rubber suit really made me have my first serious doubts about Begins.

But after a while, the pictures coming, seeing the suit in context, it grew on me. And then, in the film itself - the suit just didn't matter. It was black and rubber and I didn't give a damn. The movie was so good the suit just became irrelevant. And then a funny thing happened.

I started to *like* the suit.

Could it be done better? Absolutely. But if Begins taught me anything, it's that the suit doesn't matter as much as we all think. It's the way the character is played that matters most. And as long as Bale is in the suit, and Chris Nolan is at the helm, I feel good about these movies.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Retro

And I thought filming is sometime January and other sources said March?

I think principal photography is set to begin in February. They may start some preliminary shooting in January. I've never heard anything other than this.

Exactly. And even though the suit was rubber, it had an entirely different look to it than previous versions. And the cowl ... well the cowl rocked all kinds of ass. With the shorter ears, slanted forward... etc.

Yeah the cowl is one of the best parts of the costume. There are things about the suit they could change and it wouldn't bother me, but that cowl is badass.

It does look odd from certain angles, but in the movie it seems to be shot from the best angles in closeup and I swear - I had to work to make this case, before, but I swear - there are angles from which Bale, in that cowl, looks like Neal Adams Batman. And as much as people complain about the thick neck, the thick neck makes him look like Jim Lee Batman from the side.

Oh yeah, that picture looks wierd. But the picture is also lit funny and lacks the bats swarming around him... basically, in the context of the movie that shot was a non-issue. As a still-shot it was... odd.
