Ugh Great. I can't book anything until I get my school schedule. This sucks :csad:

Oh well. It's still coming out on the 28th if I can't see it on the 6th :csad:

My major is taking a trip to TIFF in September so hopefully I'll be able to see this. They got a very good line up.

A LOT of great films are already announced and there's so many more still. I have ike 5 I want to see already. Argh.

As much as I appreciate Gordon-Levitt. I am not very fond of Willis anymore. He lost his touch way back in the mid-90s.

At this point, LOOPER and MIB3 are the front runners for the best make-up Oscar for next year...

I thought he was pretty good in Surrogates.

Surrogates was a movie I barely gave a chance but then really ended up liking it. Its nice to be wrong about such things.

I'm waiting on this one.

I wonder how this will stack up against Willis' other time travel movie, 12 Monkeys. It would have to be truly epic to be better than that.

Man, JGL is killing it this year. Looper and Premium Rush?! Both movies look amazing.

JGL is in DKR and that Speilberg Lincoln movie too - he's all over the place!

LOOPER Viral Site Launches; Find Out How to Become a Looper and “Hunt Down Your Future Self”

Director Rian Johnson told us in March that they were already planning the viral campaign for his September 28 movie, Looper. The viral site has launched and invites you to become a Looper. One catch:
There’s a stipulation in every Looper’s contract that he may someday be required to hunt down his future self, thus closing the contract, getting a huge pay-off and erasing any trace of the very illegal arrangement with his or her future employer. This is called Closing Your Loop. Cash out, get paid. Live those 30 years like only a Looper can.
That doubles as the basic plot of Looper, in which Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is tasked with killing his future self (Bruce Willis) sent back in time from the future. If you are prepared to take the risk, find out more after the jump.

If you sign up at the Looper Network, you are greeted with this screen:

I did not get too far into the site, but First Showing says those who do meet Abe (Jeff Daniels):
“You’re going to want to use this new wealth I’m putting into your hands to prepare yourself and possibly brush up on your Mandarin. This job isn’t for the weak. We value Loopers who aren’t afraid to face each day like it might be their last, because some day, you might have to face yourself… Finish your profile, grab a blunderbuss, and get ready — you’re going to hit the ground running. Welcome to the Looper Network. From now on, I’m the most important person in your life.”
Your first mission is scheduled for August 22, but you can pick out your ride and weaponry now today!

Here are a few Looper propaganada images of Gordon-Levitt, Paul Dano, and Piper Perabo grabbed from the site:

Official synopsis:
In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.

The new trailer for this looks great. I'm really liking what I see in the trailers, and can't wait to see it.

Stoked for this, I think it looks outright great. Not enough original sci-fi movies out there nowadays.

Actually there's been more the past few years, starting around 09, and next year than basically the previous decade.

The few that most come to mind are Moon, District 9, Inception, Source Code and now looper.

Next year though is nuts with Europa Report, Oblivion, Pacific Rim, Elysium and Gravity.

Robopocalypse almost counts as the movie and the book were written concurrently with the various writers and designers bouncing ideas and designs back and forth.

It's a very solid time for original sci-fi I'd say.

JGL does a good Bruce Willis, I will give him that. Some of his John Blake had shades of Willis.

Loved him as Blake, love what I've seen from him in this. JGL impresses me more and more I must say.

Yeah you are right, I guess I mean more broader with my "nowadays". There are also so much reboots, adaptations and remakes now that many original gets overshadowed.

funny thing about Premium Rush...when I heard the premise I thought it sounded completely stuid. Then I saw the trailer and was sold on it. :)
