Awesome movie, plus that kid? Especially with the scenes with just him and JGL talking? I definitely see him becoming someone sometime in the future - he held his own and the role was far from just acting like a kid.

I really really liked this movie, it was a lot less actionheavy then I thought, not that it's a bad thing. I also didn't expect the [BLACKOUT]mutant stuff[/BLACKOUT]. Plus, I felt the sex scene was way to forced and felt really akward.

I could really see Willis in Levitt through the whole movie and the makeup really made him look like him.
I wanna see this again soon, a solid movie.

Never heard of Looper until today, checked it out and couldn't tell that it was Joseph Gordon-Levitt at all.

This movie did not disappoint me.

The movie was certainly working with pre-established time travel tropes, and it wore it's influences on its sleeve, but it wasn't defined or limited by them.

I particularly enjoyed the film's explanation of how memories work for the Future Loop once they start changing their past, their memories becoming foggy potentialities until decisions further guide on probability to the forefront.

I didn't know this film had the telekinesis angle but I really didn't mind it. I really liked how for the most part, its just a stupid parlor trick. I knew nothing of the plotline with "the Rainmaker" (which is the best name ever for someone who lifts his enemies in the air and explodes them) and his child self. The family angle of this film, both in terms of Joes past with his own mom and Cid and his mother really took me by surprise but offered some welcome motivation for the characters' actions.

I thought JGL and the kid actor were both great. Everyone else in the film was also really good.

I don't know if this movie rates a perfect 10 in my book, but I really liked it and have no real issues with it. I'll go with a 9 until future viewings.

Side note, people in my theater were acting like the ending was some kind of Inception style fake out. A guy behind me said "I'm going to find Rian Johnson and punch him in the face!"

While you aren't shown how it all turns out, its not like the ending was some kind of twist or great mystery.

I liked it a lot, I expected a bit more, but I look forward to seeing it again.

No offense, and I know you're taking an average of your three scores, but I've always found reviews down to the second decimal to be really silly.

This movie really showed levitts acting range. This was unlike anything he has ever done, and at first it was kind of startling to see him in a different role. Really showed his acting chops. As a time travel movie, I rate it at about the same place as the butterflyeffect. Very nice films on time travel, but I don't really need a sequel. I give it a 9 out of 10.

One of my few problems with movie is this: How does Jeff Daniels setting up his own crime syndicate in the past, presumably with his "Gatmen" killing folks not completely mess up the timeline?

He probably found someone who originally led the Loopers and killed them and then did exactly what they did. Wibbly wobbly timey wimey.

I saw this yesterday and thought it was very cool. I love how much effort Levitt put into mimicking Bruce Willis. He did a wonderful job as always.

This movie is a lot to process. I definitely need to see it again.

The TK stuff really threw me off. I don't know how I feel about that yet. A lot more than I expected.

I did like how Joe referenced how people with TK only do parlor trick type stuff to get chicks as opposed to being superheroes or something.

Can anyone tell me the name of the song they played during the beginning and the end credits?

Thanks.

How was Emily Blunt?

She really lost her British accent and played American quite well. Her character was kind of schizo though. Why would she try and seduce the Looper? She shot him with rock salt then wants to jump his bones?

Also to quote Matchbox 20, I wonder what it would be like to be the Rainmaker?

^Well after the rock salt thing Joe gains her trust. But ultimatley, Johnson refers to it as an intense moment between two lonely people.

Think about the way she's living, alone on a farm, except for her son who doesn't even refer to her as his mother and who she has to hide in safe to protect her self from.

Lonely indeed.

I just back from the midnight showing, and I couldn't be happier about spending an extra $4.50 for my XD ticket. Looper, to put it simply, was a fascinating and gripping Sci-Fi film from start to finish (from JGL's performance to Perabo's perfect ass on display). Rian Johnson truly did a stellar job -- 9/10.

Similar to TDKR and Prometheus, there's alot to process, and I'm still [continuously] thinking about the film.

Enjoyed this movie quite a bit and one thing that did bother me was how...
[BLACKOUT]TK seemed like it was pretty random introduction as a genetic defect etc. until you find out about the kid. Would've like it if some other things had developed in humans and TK was just one of them. [/BLACKOUT]

Yeah, I think one of the movies few flaws was how Rian didn't really flesh out the whole process of how the crime syndicate worked. It almost seemed like Daniels' character had some way of communicating with the bad guys in the future because otherwise, how would he know when one of the Looper's targets would appear? And also, how could a Looper victim be "late" like Bruce Willis was? Did he reset the time on the machine for a minute or two later to throw his younger self off?

I also think that he should have explained how people in the far future have these tracking chips inside of them that make it impossible to get rid of a body. I actually think that's a really good plot point and not mentioning it was a mistake.

Yeah, I thought they developed that really well. She was clearly someone who used to live somewhat of a wild lifestyle and then was force to "grow up" and raise her kid. And then of course there's the added stress of
raising a kid who could rip you in half at any moment and living in a somewhat lawless society full of depraved sociopaths.
Blunt was really fantastic in the role.

For what reason did they have to

torture Seth? The ending establishes that if the younger counterpart is killed, the older disappears. So....why bother?

I also thought that

Kid Blue was Abe. But instead, Kid Blue was pointless. Deleted scene maybe?

About the ending

Why did Cid have a jaw problem because of Bruce's inflicted injury, but Cid couldn't have possibly gotten it from Bruce the first time because he hadn't gone back. Why couldn't JGL just kill Bruce and be a better person? Cid needed him.

Finally, I simply cannot believe

Cid grows up to be Dustin Hoffman and goes on a road trip with his brother Tom Cruise. Mind. Blown.

Because they say that if they were to [BLACKOUT]kill loopers, it can **** up the timestream [/BLACKOUT]so they dont want to risk it.

Agree [BLACKOUT]he was a little pointless. [/BLACKOUT]

Because they state and show that the [BLACKOUT]blunderbuss has only a 15ft range and he[/BLACKOUT] wouldnt have been able to.

:wow:

^ *in Rio Bravo voice* "Any other questions you wanna ask?"

That helps, but he [blackout]would not have been able to live out anything even resembling his older self's life, without a nose, arm, leg, etc., so the time stream is messed up[/blackout] regardless.

Well, as they implied in the movie, if you think about time travel too much you're gonna start to go a little nuts.

What a terrific time travel scifi flick. They got a lot of things right when you make a real scifi film. I didn't notice that much in the trailers but watching the movie, Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks and acts exactly like Bruce Willis, it's scary. My only complaint is that there's a few scenes that slowed the film down and I thought they could've done it in a better way. My favorite scene has to be JGL/Bruce Willis time lapse loop, it's absolutely incredible.
9/10
