Oh, you hafta! It's sooo good. I'm re-watching season 2 before season 3 is released. And getting a comfy sofa since I most probably end up watching the whole season in 1 night.

i had planned on watching to movies or tv last night, but ended up finishing a book i'd been reading, and then proceeded to read another completely in one sitting lol

How long did that take?!

Nice! What are you reading?

i had finished Origin by Dan Brown and it was okay. And i couldn't sleep so i read The Hating Game by Sally Thorne for the third time lol
and i just found out they cast actors for a film adaptation, not sure how i feel about that

ST dropped on the 4th. It's 8 episodes. I just got to it late night on the 4th and into the AM of the 5th. Got as far as the third ep. (Liking it a lot so far...) and went to check out the thread here... Posters had already finished.

I get that we had a holiday but that's still like 8hrs straight of only one thing. Where do some find the time?

I'm happy I nailed one aspect dead on though.
I was saying that the Russkies needed to come into play somehow... And here we are with Soviet experiments and Russiam agents in Hawkins. On the other hand... I was hoping they would lay off the Upside Down for a season and focus on the other Numbers... So I was off on that for sure.

You REALLY ought to get to Stranger Things as a whole, especially if you are thinking of dropping Netflix. Get to that at least before you get rid of it. You will not regret it. The characters alone are worth the time invested.

to finish the book from start to finish, maybe 5 hours?
Nice. I’ve never read a full book in one sitting. Although with my preference for epic-length fantasy novels it could be difficult lol. I can be a slow reader as I keep rereading bits where I’m not sure I registered everything properly first time.

i cancelled netflix and hulu months ago. i'm considering getting it again because i really want to see the new season of Lucifer mainly lol.

i've read a few in one sitting. i remember specifically Looking For Alaska (which broke my heart at the time), The Hating Game last night (and maybe the time before? lol), and I think An Ember in the Ashes too. there may be others but i don't recall.

i know i read at least 75-100 pages of Origins last night. and then after, The Hating Game was 387 pages.

Ah... I misread your earlier post. I thought you were thinking abour ending your subscription for some reason.

In that case, if you get it back you gotta give ST a whirl. I don't know if it will live up to the hype around it for you but it is just an all around great show, equal parts charming coming of age small town story and cool cinimatic sci fi/horror show akin to the X-Files and Stephen King at his best.

i feel like i would enjoy it. i try to not learn too too much about it to keep things from ruining it for me, but i know the gist of what's going on. it gives me a Super 8 vibe, which i remember enjoying, but thinking the ending was pretty weak.

i also need to finish the marvel TV shows.

I split it over two days, half yesterday, the rest today. :)

It is better than SUPER 8 which I think handles the kid stuff well but is a mess of a sc fi story. With ST the small town kid thing is superb but the sci fi/horror stuff is just as good, with one feeding into the other and vice versa.

As someone that was a bona fide 80's kid I also think the show nails the era without it going over the top into nostalgia parody. It feels like a story that for a variety of readons takes place in the 80's and not just a weak greatest hits of the time check list deal. I will say... They went a bit hard with the music in the first three episodes of season three for my tastes. Not bad but that trick was a bit more reserved in the previous seasons. The songs in the first episode alone of season three... There was one like EVERY scene practically.

I digress though...

I really hope you get around to it. It is really well done and really heartfelt without being treacly or over the top dark. It's just the right balance over all.

sounds like i would really enjoy it. i just need to find time. since i'll be working out of town 4 of 5 weeks, i'll have plenty of down time in the hotel to watch some stuff and read hopefully
