Lounge of Justice - Part 90

I don't know how I'd rank all of the DC flicks at this point. All I can say is BoP was a damn good time at the movies.

Was it perfect? No. But some things that I didn't like I accept are just personal taste and not indicative of the film's quality. I'm just not super big on Margot hamming it up sometimes as Harley. Some of the choices she makes to come off larger than life feel too obvious to me. Like the way she races through certain lines or how her mannerisms can be, iunno, squirrel-like in how manic they are. It makes me realize how amazing Heath was with the lip-licking thing alone. But I get it's just the way the character is so I'm not hating so much as just observing.

The action was aces though. And I think this flick occupies a really cool area on the CBM spectrum. Where WW was sorta this altruistic view of feminity, BoP feels more normalized. Like it's just women as regular humans. It ain't always about saving humanity so much as just surviving the night. There's room for both and more of course.

Lastly, Ewan stole the gahdamn show. Shot way up to the top spots in my villain fandom. I don't feel the trailers really showcased this and I'm glad. Was totally shocked by what we got. I'll just leave it at that.

Not asking for spoilers, but do they make it abundantly clear the movie is still part of the DCEU. Obviously Harley's relationship with Joker has to at least be namedropped or something, but do they reference any past events or bother in any way to show the audience that it's still the same DC world they've seen since MoS.

Yep, there are several direct references to SS.

Bop box office thread is filled with folks who admitted that they will not see the flick at all, and not pay for it in any form, but there they are running around like headless bald chickens.

Eh, BoP is worth the ticket price. I’m going to see it again next week, liked it better than Shazam.

Also, random stuff, what’s up with women and hiking? Over goddamn 60 degrees out here and she wants to walk over 10 miles, but cant let her go alone. Wear my YOU hat. Goddamn it.

when the jerks in the office just won't leave a lady alone:

WW84 trailer played before BoP and folks around me gasped. Yeah, that flick is going to make a lot of bank.

Billllllllllllllllllllllliion.
Good to hear. I really think it can get above a billion with all the good will from the first one and with them pushing things further this time around.

Seeing BOP tonight. Glad it's getting such good write-ups.
Tomorrow for me. Really looking forward to it after everything I’ve heard.

I don't feel like I'll love Birds of Prey, the only thing I liked about trailers and all the footage I've seen of it is that Ewan McGregor seems like he will be entertaining at least.

I had a lol moment with one of the references

Mother greets her late daughter in VR... :csad:

I mean this is Cheetah we're talking about... It's gonna look like Cats no matter what.

Here's hoping Marvel Studios never choose to take Tigress out from page to film.

That was my first thought. Maybe it'll look much better in motion.

As long as the design is practical it will at minimum look decent. The art may have minimized some facial features that could enhance the look and make it more bestial.
