Lounge of Justice - Part 90

This is funny I'm watching Showgirls for the first time ever tonight lol

I've been well just lawyering really hard, not just at work which was crazy during the pandemic shutdown - courthouses here didn't close so we had so much to do - but also because I was taking some exams recently which hopefully went well cause I just cannot do it again :funny:

I haven't been around much on any boards etc. only on letterboxd, I have quite a few readers now. Also on behalf of Poland allow me to apologize for 365 Days

Showgirls is a classic.

I fast forward to all the good parts in ''365 Days''. Eh, that actress deserves an oscar.

Agreed for me there is only part 1 and 2. Although I never looked at it before in the way you just described it and your absolutely correct.

I must admit that I hadn't either, but alcohol and a special cigar made me realize this. I have no real itch to rewatch Joker, but the first Godfather is essentially that, the origin of a great villain disguised under the pretext of ''Family'' and whatnot. Eh.

If Coppola was gonna utilize nepotism in his money grab 3rd film regardless, it shoulda been Nic. Imagine bats*** nic cage in a godfather movie?

I’d almost consider re-watching the pile of garbaggio just for that.

I prefer the first Godfather to part II. I know most people are the other way round on that. Also strange as I more often prefer second films to origins.

Maybe I watched too much trash this year but I legit thought showgirls was well done. I wish one scene/plot wasn't there, it was upsetting. The only legitimately awfully made thing was whatever the **** Kyle's hairstyle was

There were good parts there? :D
Funny thing, I rewatched Miami Vice right after this and thought the boat scene was 1000000000x hotter than this entire messs

The best Paul Verhoeven film IMHO is Starship Troopers. When I saw it back in 1997, I was fully aware of the film's caricature of right-wing militarism. It's like Verhoeven mocking version of standard propaganda film. His family used to live near a German military base (V1/V2 rockets) and his experiences of WWII included seeing dead bodies on street, burning building and violence. And of course I enjoyed the heck his Robocop and Total Recall.

RoboCop has an 80s cartoon

He was also loved by puppies

Cause you know what the world needed, a children cartoon based on 'R' rated movies.

Child: "WOW. Parent, this is a movie about that character from that cartoon show I love. Please buy me this movie"
Parent: "No my dear, this movie is not made for children"

And child watches movie in secret with a friend, to be shocked that this movie explains why this character has a future fitting as a guest star in Mortal Kombat.

watching robocop for kids in the late 80s was a rite of passage.

my dad rented it on vhs from the local video rental shop and we gathered around the tv for some family viewing time.

i was about 8 years old.
my parents, my bro and i all enjoyed it.

lol sort of ridiculous if you think about it today.

Peter Weller as Batman will always be epic.

In a different timeline, there is an 80s live film version of TDKR directed by John Carpenter. Clint Eastwood as Batman and Defoe as Joker sitting on my bluray shelf right now. AND THAT film is the bar for Batman. Not bald Nolan or weird Burton.

On an unrelated note, Brie Larson has started a youtube channel and the incels are losing their minds (the comment section of her first video is ugly). Just amazing that she has been living rent free in their heads for over a year just because she once dared to say that film criticism could use more diversity.

Brie Larson seems like the type who is against animal cruelty, but would take a pic with a monkey on a leash in Morocco. She is still hot and talented tho. Eh.

dafoe was born to play every comic book villain ever.
he could've been a great, even definitive joker. missed opportunity.

Hell, I would love to see it now. Old Man Clint is still breathing. Have his lookalike son appear for some flashbacks.
