Lounge of Justice - Part 90

You can't get anyone better to play Power Girl than Olivia Taylor Dudley.

Glass

I honestly don't remember if I even saw this in the theater, so watched it while it plays on HBO. This is pretty much my whole review of it summed up in gif form:

If PG ever graces the silver screen, you can be sure it won't be with a considerable chest and definitely not with that costume.

You know, Powergirl is a pretty popular character and it seems like there are plenty of women who cosplay as her. I wonder if we, as guys, think she would be more offensive than many women think she is (meaning her chest size and costume, not the character of course). Either let a woman direct Powergirl, or if you're a guy, make sure to get the opinions of some women you trust.

Why’d ya spill yer beans.....

I was repeating that to myself for all of my two minute car ride home

I thought Glass was alright for what it was meant to be. I mean looking at the context of the story and what they were going for I thought it was good. It could've been better but it wasn't a bad movie by no means.

Problem is, it was made about 10-15 years too late. At this point
people cared about Davis Dunn with almost 20 years since the original movie, so people wanted a better story for him. I think he deserved more.

I wanted Dunn to take down the Beast with this music but I didn't get it so, yeah, Glass was a disappointment. :o

It's inspiring copycats to do dangerous stuff already!!!

:o

Glass was awful but there was this one scene I liked between Anya and James McAvoy and based on the strength of that scene alone it is nowhere near the bottom of my list lol so many bad movies this year

the more i think about todd phillips' joker, the more it reminds me of 1997's "Made in Hong Kong"

it's like joker's more arthouse, asian cousin.
it is less disturbing, but i feel it is equally as sad and bleak.

the story even has some parallels to joker:

- a poor, disenfranchised young man lives in the projects of hong kong with his mother, pressure from all the bad circumstances around him causes him to lose hope and he resorts to violence at the end.

for all you arthouse aficionados, check it out if you can.
it might be hard to find, i watched in on vhs about 20 years ago

this was made right around when hk was handed over back to china.
they'll probably never movies like this again in hong kong.

As I said in the other thread I am not thrilled about this mainly because I just don't trust Superman in the hands of the Supergirl team.

I wonder if this indicates that WB could have no plans for another Superman movie at the moment.
