Yeah that’s right, the script is actually quite good and really ambitious for the time. I think it would have happened aswell if not for WB & the whole ownership ordeal.

i'm a little bit older than kirsten but younger than tobey, so it was funny seeing them as high schoolers because i was almost done with college when the movie came out. lol

it was great watching it in theaters though - the first big screen adaption of spider-man!
willem dafoe still one of the goat supervillian performances - even with that plastic mask! lol

Kirsten was 19 when they shot the first movie, I thought she passed off as a high schooler. Maybe it's also because it came out right after Get Over It and I was used t0 seeing her as a high schooler at that point. Tobey was a different story, but the fact that he had that babyface at 25 still spoke volumes. I think Franco was the one who really felt out of place and he was younger than Tobey.
