Lounge of Justice - Part 90

They got The Lighthouse for free on Amazon Prime. Hot damn. I feel like thats the perfect isolation movie.

Personally I would have just brought Garfield’s Spider-Man into the MCU & done a new Spider-Man film with him post Civil War called Spectacular Spider-Man & treated no it as a fresh start for the character bringing in MJ etc.
While my heart agrees with this as I loved Andrew in the role more than anybody, I think the problem they would've run into the for the story they wanted to tell is that Andrew would not have felt like a kid next to the other Avengers at all.

Holland is the best Peter Parker and Spiderman. I just dont like the material theyre giving him. He was so awesome when he was showboating around Captain America in Civil War and then afterwards became this whiny inept teenager who relied too much on poppa Stark. I totally get what theyre going for but its not working for me.

Give Holland some Sam Raimi material though...and now we’re talkin’.

Holland playing a confident veteran spider-man is gonna be great some day. Hope we start seeing some of that real soon

That would be preferable to me though. I’m really not a fan of Spider-Man been the kid in the group anyway. Especially the Iron Man Jr stuff. It’s weird though cause I did love Spider-Man Homecoming, just felt it was a really well done movie and I could get past some of my critcisms in that one.

I do like Holland but for me Garfield was perfect Spidey. He reminded me of the Spider-Man I loved so much in the animated series in the 90s.

I still keep thinking Sony should live action the Into the Spiderverse concept & give us Maguire, Garfield & Holland together. Spider-Men save the Multiverse or something like that. Could be awesome.

I think when he 100% goes back to Sony is when we’ll get that Spider-Man.
Who’s to say it doesn’t happen with marvel? Holland has room to grow in the MCU, the character can have a lot of longevity if they play it right.

I don’t trust Sony when left to their own devices, especially when Avi Arad actually has creative pull. And I don’t wanna hear about spider-verse as an example that Sony knows what they’re doing, unless they’re getting lord and Miller to make live action spider-man movies.

That Spider-Man game they put out had the best take on Peter Parker I've seen on screen. I trust Sony with Spidey himself. It's the rest of his world I don't trust them with, as they seem determined to milk it for more than it's worth.

Yes yes yes yes yes. That PS4 Spiderman game is THE best iteration of Spiderman I have seen since the Spectacular Spiderman cartoon from a decade ago. The writers of that game just get the character in a way I havent seen done in any of the movies.

Finally watched Bloodshot.

Felt like an early 2000s' cbm. Eiza Gonzalez was nice to look at. Not worth the rental cost.
The constant shake of camera is disturbingly disorienting, I stopped watching before the 30 minutes mark. And the first 12 minutes are some bloated crap that has other cinematography issues.

He's really great in the Raimi tie-in games too, the PS1 games, and even Ultimate Spider-Man video game.

I love how they focused mostly on classic 616 stuff. Watanabe Yuri and Mr Negative are modern 616 characters that I've enjoyed since their inception, and I'm glad they finally got the love they deserve.
I think the only thing other than Miles that came from Ultimate line is MJ being a reporter, which I'm fine with given how useful she is to Peter in the story.

Honestly, the PS4 game plot and portrayal of Spider-Man is the route that Sony should have taken when they had rebooted the first time with Andrew Garfield. Andrew was of the right age to portray the character having already been in his prime and you could have brought in Miles in the "Amazing Spider-Man" series.

I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't that broken up about the news of Holland leaving the MCU, in fact I was intrigued to see where Sony would take the character next. I know everyone--including myself from time to time--gives Sony Pictures grief because of their treatment of the IP from Spider-man 3...to Amazing Spiderman...to Venom, but I always believed that all they just needed was to find a director like Raimi or Marc Webb with vision to make him really great again. Webb's movies may not have worked all the way but he had vision, his movies had a style and vibe that just isn't present in the Jon Watts movies. No offense to the guy but he's boring. Spider-man needs someone with vision and flair. And I felt that /Sony freeing themselves from Feige would free them up to do that again. It was a lot of fun seeing Spiderman team up with the Avengers but, eh, I guess I'm ready to see him be his own unique hero again.

I hear and read these comments about vision for the Star Wars prequel trilogy and the 2015-2019 trilogy as well. TASM movies are the Spider-Man movie equivalents to the Star Wars prequels, the Hayden Christensen ones more specifically, possibly excluding Jake Lloyd's movie.

Thats probably an apt comparison. I would have been curious to see where Webb took the third movie with the Sinister Six and Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane.

I'd honestly be happy to see Marc Webb direct another CBM, as I think he had a lot more style AND the human touch that a lot of CBM directors seem to be lacking these days. But I doubt he'd want to even if anyone asked, lol.

IF anything, my two biggest grips with the MCU take on Spider-Man is the lack of Uncle Ben mentions and Zendaya as MJ. I don't know about anyone else, but I personally feel like Marvel Studios is trying too hard to be "different" from previous interpretations.

Mentioning Uncle Ben wouldn't be a retread at all. Granted, we don't have to do the whole death of Uncle Ben scene but it wouldn't hurt to show the direct impact that the character had in this version of the character.

And I don't know why they had to make Zendaya MJ but not actually Mary Jane. When I think about it now, I feel like someone like Hailee Steinfeld would have been a perfect choice to portray the MCU version of the real Mary Jane Watson.

I'm generalizing here but I see most folks hating on the CGI hybrid movies. But why?? Those are so charming. I love them so much.

I'm watching Hop right nao (Alvin and The Chipmunks 2, Stuart Little duology & TMNT reboot sequel is next on my agenda) and it's really cute.

Hop was very enjoyable and so was Alvin and The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (it's the 3rd one actually). I'm nao a bit confused. I don't know which one to select. I'll probably go with TMNT sequel because I wanna watch the Stuart Little movies back to back without a break and I'll need more time for that.

I hope TMNT2 holds up (I liked it a lot back in 2016) because the 2014 one mostly sucked. I appreciate the kkkrazzzy 3rd act but the movie was a misfire on so many levels.

Damn, I'm spamming this thread.

TMNT2 was great. It has almost literally everything I want from a big budget blockbuster movie, lol.

A skybeams 3rd act, inter-dimensional portal, lots of cool mcguffins, loudmouth villains with bad jokes and one liners and heroes with catchphrases. I love it so much.

It was better than the first one. Im glad they had Beebop and Rocksteady in it. Ive had my fill of the Bay Turtles though.

Have any of you guys seen the original TMNT from the 90s lately? That movie holds the f*** up! One of my all time favorites.

My biggest problem with MCU Spider-Man is that he's nothing more than Iron Man jr. Hell so far every villain he has fought was mainly fighting him because Iron Man is unavailable. And the sad part about it is they're not even Iron Man's villains but some how in the movies they are.
