Lounge of Justice - Part 90

I'm half an hour into Lego Batman and I remembered why I didn't bother watching it more than once. The jokes come thick and fast and and it feels like the humor is overcompensating for something at every turn and they are not even funny most of the time. I was really expecting a different experience but no bueno so far.

No I don't care about that stuff I care about what they did to Joel. That's what did it for me now as far as TV show I have no interest since they just flat out said all the men on the show are the bad guys who just rape women and use their power to get over on them.

It depends on what they did (don't want any spoilers). Elle being gay, couldn't care less. Otoh, if they go the route some other creatives have done with their properties which is provide overly simplistic, one sided views of otherwise complex issues, then I don't care for that.

I cringe at woke behavior, and woke behavior is a real thing, but woke and earnestly progressive are 2 different things. I think sometimes people can lump the two together.

You should watch the one using cutscenes from LEGO Batman 2, and exchange gameplay footage with shorter scenes that look just like the cinematics.

Ok the movie has picked up since Robin became a full time Batman groupie :p

Big shout-out to the guy who selected the I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight song from Cutting Crew. Bonus points for great taste in music!

Ok you guys keep acting like I'm against a "woke " agenda when once again I just dislike what they did to Joel and don't like what I'm hearing about the show.

Well damn, talk about a doing a complete 180! Lego Batman is awesome!

The first half an hour is all insufferable comedy (so much so that I shrugged even at the good jokes!) but the rest is just aces. I legit got emotional at the end.

WB lost Seth Grahame-Smith for the Flash solo :( He wrote Lego Batman.

I'm kinda curious about the pitch of Ezra and how he managed to oust Daley-Goldstein from the project but these director/writer losses are just kkkkrazzzy. It entirely sucks. These guys are all capable of writing a decent script so where is the creative f**king difference.

Where is it all going wrong for WB that they keep firing one guy after another. Flash has so much potential and WB keeps screwing up again and again.

I'm not suggesting anything about you (especially since I'm not sure what the spoiler actually is). Didn't mean for my post to come across asttowards you. Just a general thought about our culture.

And part of why I made my comment was in case they did go woke with the sequel. The best part of the first game was the mature storytelling. It didn't tell you what to think, how to feel, who or what was right. It explored themes in a manner that forced the player to think. Woke storytelling is just the opposite. Anyway, for now I'll assume they know what they're doing unless I see otherwise. I think it's the same writers, so I have to think it will be just as complex and nuanced as the first game.

Halfway through Bad Education on HBO. Really good so far. Didn't seem appealing to me first but this is compelling work from Jackman and the rest if the cast too.

Best thing about your timing is that we both watched Batman movies at the same time. I was watching the Dark Knight Rises.

TDKR is amazing. The movie is easily the least meticulous of TDKT and not that well coordinated compared to BB & TDK but the final (15-20) mins are the best finale of any CBM ever. The most emotional I have ever been for a superhero movie. I'm a sucker for happy endings so I really liked the way Nolan capped off the trilogy.

Yes, yes, and yes. At least it has better fight choreography than BB, than one is a little hard to watch during fights.

How big was How I Met Your Mother in America??

The non-linear narrative is just brilliant, isn't it?? Is there any other sitcom as inventive as HIMYM??

Kind of a shame that I'm sifting through the episodes I loved the most instead of binging the whole thing but it has been really cool so far.

Over here in the US it was huge but the final episode has gone done in history as one of the worst series finales of all time and I agree. You don't spend 3 seasons putting Barney and Robin back together again just to spilt them up within the first 5 mins of the last episode. The fans loved them and they knew they were wrong which is why we got the alternate happy ending.

Nice. Thanks for the info man.

I used to be the HIMYM guy among my peers. The others loved either Friends or Seinfeld but I preferred HIMYM over those.

I hated the ending too. I really hated it and it bugged me for months. But I have come to accept it recently. The whole show has always been about how Ted always goes back to Robin and how she is the one. So it's fitting.

In any case, I may try to rationalize the choice but I'm gonna ditch the show after 15-16 episodes into the final season. That's when the show stopped being Legen-(wait for it....it's not really that many dots.................................)-dary :p

You're a better man than me. I have yet to accept that ending. I usually watch up until they are married and then from there just use the alternate ending where the mother never died, Barney and Robin stayed together and everything ended perfectly. Actually until that ending was released I couldn't even watch the show anymore that was how much that ending ruined the show for me. I mean I get that the reason they didn't change it because the ending was shot during season 1 but when the show grew and changed your ending should've as well. I mean look at when they broke Robin and Barney up in the first place the show runners were caught off guard by the backlash because they didn't expect for it to last which is why Barney and Robin got back together and married to please the fans. They should've followed Friends lead because Monica and Chandler were never supposed to stay together Chandler was supposed to end up with Janice. However when the writers saw how well received it was plans changed. HIMYM should've done the same.

Woah, I didn't know these things. Really, so the backlash of the first break-up made the show-runners put Barney and Robin back together. Very interesting but I don't believe the Chandler-Janice stuff. You're making that up. Chandler with OH MY GOD. I mean, nuh-uh! no freaking way!

The Friends writers admitted that Chandler was supposed to be with Janice but because of fans response they kept him and Monica together. Originally it wasn't supposed to last that long. And yeah that's why they put Robin and Barney back together because of the backlash that happened when they broke them up. And since the moment they broke them up fans kept asking when they were going to put them back together.

I'm watching Long Shot and it's really funny.

I just know that 'dork gets the hot successful girl' story (or trope, call it what you want) works for me and so far so good.

I remember Joey and Monica were supposed to end up together, originally. As far as HIMYM goes, I really enjoyed it, but the ending feels like such a waste of time. They could have easily worked around a new ending instead of giving us that crap.
