Lounge of Justice - Part 90

I don't know what to think about the possibility of a Justice League Rebirth, but I want an Avengers level Justice League movie in the future, something eventful, awesome, and leaves a massive positive impact.

Hopefully with good special effects, not the TV show look the Avengers has, and stay far away from whatever look that 2017 JL movie was.

That trailer was a total misrepresentation of the show, though. I really liked the first season despite some of the obvious roadblocks they faced creatively/financially. S2 has a bigger budget and some pretty great individual moments, but it was a misfire for me, IMO. Hoping to see some big changes moving forward when they inevitably do the 3rd season.

The first blaring red flag for me was the season one finale. That finale was a really crappy way to end the season. But then the beginning of season 2 showed promise, the Deathstroke arc was engaging and the guy they got playing Slade was amazing. And then....boy oh BOY idk WTF was going on in the latter part with season 2. When Ian Glenn’s Bruce came in and you found out WHY he was there and everything going with Dick Grayson....i couldnt believe what I was watching.

And then finally, FINALLY we get Nightwing on the LAST EPISODE and in a cool looking suit too and then.....ugh. And then THAT SCENE where THAT character dies was just flabbergastingly bad. The guy running Titans has absolutely no love for the source material, that much is clear.

Sorry, I usually dont get this worked up over fiction. Lol

I had already emotionally checked out by that point so I didn’t get worked up over it, but this an accurate description of the disaster that’s been Titans, imo.

I mean, I feel like I have a pretty low bar to clear for being able to like a comic book adaptation: just show me you have love for the characters and what they’re about. I can forgive a ton of crappy writing/acting/production values if you can just convince me of that. Titans has failed to clear that very basic bar for me.

#notmuhTitans :funny:

I’m not disagreeing with anything he tweeted, but good lord who pissed in Mark Hughes’ oatmeal this morning!

Haha he’s literally like the fun police lately, I do think he makes a lot of sense in what he said but I think given how he seems to be behind everyone else with the news lately he should have a think before he posts. He seemed to be the last to know Supergirl was cancelled, that Batfleck was done as Batman etc.

Yup Titans feels to me like they’re stuck in beteeen two time periods, now and where the thought process was all “costumes aren’t cool”. For me it’s a little like Netflix’s Marvel shows where it all just feels so dull. I wouldn’t have wanted them to pull the plug before because of his happy I was to see a good version of Robin & Superboy but now I’m like just pull it, give it a few years and reboot the damn thing.

Ava and Tom King have both been open about still writing the script to the point of giving direct details and teases. Ava's tied to a lot of projects but I think it's still possible for a 2023 date.

I think the comics option would always remain a separate app from Max because it requires a totally different interface. AT&T didn’t even spring for a new UI when they commandeered HBO Now and changed it to Max, so I doubt they’d make any such efforts for something so niche as a comics section.

I know y’all love AT&T right now because they greenlit something you wanted, but they have a terrible track record when it comes to entertainment management and customer satisfaction (just look at their last failed streaming service, the death of their “Audience Network,” or even how bungled the Max launch was). They are definitely not the company I’d choose to be in charge of WB, HBO or DC content in any way, if I had any say.

I meant as a discounted extra like Hulu and ESPN+ with Disney+.

And yes, I think the HBO Max app can definitely use refinement. Netflix is the gold standard as compared to HBO Max and Amazon Prime when it comes to user interface (though I know there is that one feature a lot of people don't like).

Hahaha i know i know. Ironically i know this is how some people feel about Zack Snyder’s stuff and im a fan so it sounds hypocritical. Its all about execution at the end of the day. I dont get what this showrunner is trying to do with Titans ultimately.
As someone who does feel that way about Snyder’s stuff too, I don’t think what you’re saying sounds hypocritical at all. The debate around Snyder seems largely centered around whether or not you believe he respects the core notions of the characters. So if you’re in the camp that believes he does, it makes total sense to me that you’d still dislike an adaptation that seems not to.

Man i defended Titans for so long but i couldnt do it anymore after that finale. The showrunner completely s*** the bed with that series. They got the complete wrong person to steer that ship. Say what you will about Berlanti but he probably would've at least made that show FEEL like Titans and it would’ve been fun to watch. I would gladly take him over this showrunner who seems to be doing everything in his power to steer away from the superheroics.

It's dull, poorly directed, hammy, soap operish, poorly thought out, contrived, plot focused, compressed and decompressed at the wrong places, and at war with itself in what its mission is.

Yeah, it's a good show.

Ah yes, including it in a discounted bundle doesn’t seem outside the realm of possibility! That would be cool.

On the topic of DC Universe, does anyone know if Harley Quinn is doing well because, while they crap the bed with Titans they struck GOLD with that show. I have to catch up but the chunk of episodes i watched were brilliant.

Looks like they struck gold with Titans as well. It's been months since season 2 ended and it's still up there

It’s hard to gauge since, as is typical with streaming shows, we don’t know what all metrics they’re looking at (like, do they care about the ratings of the airings on Cartoon Network?), but as per the chart posted above, it seems to be doing fairly well. There’s no show I’m rooting for harder to get another season than that show at the moment. I need more!

Agreed! As soon as the 1st 2 seasons get added to Max, I’m gonna rewatch as much as possible just to give it the traffic, lol.

The only thing I don't like about Harley Quinn is they once again shafted Hal from the Justice League. You guys know all too well I'm no fan when DC does that. lol Guess it doesn't matter since the JL have only made a few cameos on the show anyway.

It does if it’s it’s own thing, with them establishing a Multiverse it could be interesting.

I wouldn't mind Justice League being its own franchise separate from the solo outing.
