Don't think that Disney isn't going to pay attention to how WW84 does because if it does well on Max I think you'll see Black Widow released on + with Spider-Man being the first big budget movie being released in the theaters once this whole Covid thing is over.

Nah. The next in the pipeline would be Shang-Chi, which is more likely to be delayed since unlike Black Widow they didn't pay a bunch of money on marketing yet (which is almost definitely one of the reasons WW1984 just bit the bullet here).

As for WW1984 "doing well" enough to motivate them, to be frank, it's not gonna make nearly the amount of money it would have in theaters were it not for COVID. That's not what WB is doing here. This is about selling HBO Max, which has been struggling. The actual economics of releasing big 150 million dollar (at least) blockbusters straight to streaming still needs the kinks ironed out before it becomes the new standard.

The whole release date thing shifted so drastically that toys are already in stores even though the movie isn't out until next year.

Al jokes aside, i think theres a lot more trouble with the film than we think going on behind the scenes, them not showing us anything isnt just because of covid, believe that. In fact i seem to remember pre-covid there was gossip that large portions of the film were being reshot.
