I've never read a HP book or seen a HP movie. Am I missing out? I feel like I know everything about the story from cultural osmosis anyway.
Even watching all the movies you don't get all the details. It's definitely a series worth reading. If you enjoy reading.

You know what always kind of pissed me off? And I know the story would have been totally different, and blah blah blah, but...

The fact that Lilly picked James(who was kind of a bully and a jerk) over Severus.

I dont think Lilly ever saw Severus in a romantic way. He was always friendzoned and then he got himself booted from the friendzone. I do feel sorry for the character cause life **** on him but he just kept hurting himself. Him calling Lilly a Mudblood is really hard to forgive. We the readers can, but put yourself in Lilly's shoes. Mudblood is the most disgusting term you can call someone in the wizarding world. Its spitting on you and your heritage. Its like if you were black and your best friend called you a...well you know. Thats a line and whether its crossed in a fit of rage or not its still a line that you've crossed.

Oh, I definitely get that, but it still blows my mind that she'd fall for a jerk who treated her friend(or anyone really) like such crap constantly. That's where my problem lies.

James was it seems charming in his later years. And he became charming right about the time Snape became a total git so everything James did to Snape in his younger years probably got wiped away in Lilly's mind. She probably didnt care what James had done to Snape after Snape called her that.

And we cant forget that Lily was a teenager* and James was a quidditch star.

*No offense teenage hypsters.

Bullies and famous stars can be quite charming when they need to be. The fact that James was a *****e at all always bothered me.(why couldn't he have been more like Cedric Diggory?)

I know he was always loyal and true to his friends and that is great and all, but not when you look at the fact that him and his friends were kind of the bullies/jerks of the school.

Kind of like Malfoy and his pals.

Another random thought...

I still can't believe that Looney, I mean Luna won a fan contest to play that character. She couldn't have been more perfect.

James and Sirius were bullies and jerks in school no doubt. I think Lupin was the only one with his head on straight, but he had to grow up very fast due to his condition.

Well said, Marvolo. Well said.

I just snacked on some cold leftover [American Chinese] fried rice and vegetables. Delish'.
