I tried to sweeten the image a bit, but I failed.

I been reading a lot of Judge Dredd over the past few days and it's a really good series. For something spanning decades the world building is fantastic, the characters are usually interesting and how the reference earlier events to involve current works is well done.

I half expected the entire thing to be 10% good and 90% Nineties 'grimdark' material.

It started in the 70s, couldn't be 90s stuff. The first volume bored me for the most part, the second volume and on are better. I'm slowly progressing with the series, still haven't completed the series.

Dredd was the superhero equvilant of the Raid. It was great.

That is true, two great movies that are worth keeping and watching for years to come.
