I've never seen Missick in anything. Hopefully she's a good actor. If I was in charge of casting Misty would be played by Teyonah Parris.

I think Misty Knight is one of those characters we might have to temper our expectations for in terms of a completely faithful adaptation. Unlike Luke Cage, Misty hasn't really adapted to the passage of time; in the comics she's still running around dressed like Foxy Brown. That's not really something that works in a more grounded atmosphere like the one the Netflix MCU has set up.

I assume she'll still maintain her bionic arm and personality, but I wouldn't count on a costume.

Amazing choice!!!!! I would've loved that casting!!!!

I don't think it's really hard to do a faithful Misty Knight adaptation. I know black women who still utilize similar hairstyles, and if you can update Karen Page to fit modern sensibilities while still being true to the character, you can certainly do the same for Misty Knight. There are plenty of modern comics in which Misty has been written well while remaining pretty much like her original version (such as the Immortal Iron Fist run).

And sure, maybe her red jumpsuit might not work, but something like this could def be pulled off:

Her afro isn't the problem, certainly. It just doesn't seem to be the route they're going down given what we've seen from behind the scenes, and thus people are concerned that Simone may not be the Misty Knight that they are expecting.

The character we get in Luke Cage could likely be very close in personality to her comic counterpart, but I'd be surprised if any of her blaxplotation roots are kept in tact. She's a character that even in the comics can come across as very, very dated (though that usually comes hand-in-hand with poor writing to begin with).

Misty hasn't always had the afro. I recall in one run, she had a short almost pixie like cut. I think it was the Immortal Iron Fist run in the early issue sunless I'm mistaken.

There really isn't anything particularly "Blaxsploitation" about Misty's look. She pretty much wears the same thing most female superheros wear. If Black Widow's costume was red it could pass for Misty's.

The afro isn't really a Blaxsplotation thing either. Natural hair has never really gone out of style for black folks since the 60's.

Short Luke Cage (cam) teaser on YouTube!

I'm surprised they're willing to spend so much money on the music for this show.

I like it! I love the inner joke of "you obviously don't know who I am" which is kind of a wink to the audience. They'll know who he is fairly soon!

Super hyped for this show, and this teaser only confirmed it!!!!!

Colter's nonchalant attitude really sells the his powers.

Wesley Snipes in Blade "Mother******, you outta your damn mind?" is still the best Marvel superhero response to being shot though :)

Nice. Can't wait.

Where does this take place in the MCU timeline; before or after the events of Jessica Jones?

Colter says it will take place after JJ in real time but there will be flashbacks to before he met Jessica.

I could be wrong, but based on what I'm reading, it's after, and they will probably still have some flashbacks like the other shows did.

I think I would've preferred if Cage were more loud mouthed. He seems a little more reserved and quiet than his comic counterpart. I don't know what his chemistry is like with Finn Jones, but Colter seems like he could end up playing the straight man of the partnership, when Cage should be the more boisterous and outspoken. I would've preferred his personality were more like Jim Kelly from Enter the Dragon or Blackbelt Jones.

Luke is the straight man in the current Power Man and Iron Fist comic.

This is a Luke Cage who has yet to clear his name so is keeping a low profile. This is also a more mature Luke. I think like his comic counterpart he has been through stuff and mellowed a out a bit with age.

I think he may be more outspoken when confronted with new things like ninjas and aliens.

This takes place after JJ but what about films? Is this before or after Civil War?

It comes out after Civil War so it takes place after Civil War. The shows always follow the lead of the films.

I doubt anything that happens in Civil War would seriously impact Luke Cage or any of the Netflix shows.

People keep assuming The Sokovia Accords will affect every super powered being, but they're just thinking that because that's what the SHRA was doing in the comics.
