Luke Cage & Iron Fist - HEROES FOR HIRE movie thread

For a Luke Cage film I like either Micheal Jai White as Luke Cage or Tyrease. Leaning more towards Jai White now then Tyrease.

What's the modern-day equivalent of Misty Night's 'fro?

Can't think of anything but a fro. If they wanted to change it they could give her cornrows or another form of braids. They could go with the curly 'natural' look that is getting somewhat popular with black females these days.

Sydney Poitier is the modern equivalent. Cast her

Yeah that's a great idea. I really can see Sydney as Misty. I tend to see LL Cool J as Luke, Eliza Dushku as Coleen, Maybe Jensen Ackles as Iron fist

Even though she isn't drawn that way, it's my understanding that Colleen is mostly if not fully asian.

I disagree with each idea except your agreement with Sydney as Misty

Ive said this many times - A Luke Cage and Iron Fist movie set in 70s NYC would rock.

Or better yet, Dichen Lachman as Colleen

She'd be cool too, tho I'd say Lachman is a better actress.

Now that Luke Cage has been drawn as a bald man in recent adaptations...I'm thinking that Common could be a very decent casting possibility for the role.

I think he personifies a lot of Cage's personality, although, he doesn't look much like him facially and his skin tone is quite light for Cage, but I saw Common in a trailer for an upcoming basketball movie, and the big is ripped to SHREDS!

If they made the two solo movies, and then the team-up movie, where would Misty and Colleen fit into the story?

Michael Jai White has a good build that could work, but he wouldn't be my first choice. Luke always struck me as a guy with big stature, and I don't think White has a big natural build. That's just a minor nitpick though, so I wouldn't be opposed to him playing Cage.

I don't know who you posted for Danny, but he looks the part. If he could act, I'd like to see it.

I'm a big fan of Common, the rapper. But Common the actor, not so much. He'd be a poor fit for Cage, imho. Com just doesn't have that streetwise tough guy LC needs, imho. He tried, in Street Kings and Smoking Aces, but he just wasn't believable to me. I could see Common in a supporting role, perhaps as one of Cage's street informants, but not in the titular role.

^ I completely agree with that statement.

Charlie Hunnam is the best choice for Iron Fist I've heard.

Hunnam would be great for Iron Fist as far as the acting and look is concerned, but would he be able to pull off the action scenes? We all know he can pull off a fight, but he's always been more of a brawler in his roles, as opposed to a martial arts type guy. Now, as far as Cage is concerned, I have the exact opposite problem. Terry Crewes looks the part more than anyone else I have seen, but he's not the best actor in the world. If they decided to write the part as a "big angry black man" like he sometimes is in the books, and have Iron Fist be the big "acting" part, I could see him working out. They'd have to keep him as the muscle of the group with Misty and Rand as the brains.
That being said, I see this as more of a TV show than a movie franchise. For one, there's going to be a ton of superhero movies coming out in the next few years, and the general public would probably not bother going to see one about H4H.
But the only superhero tv show out there is Smallville, which will probably not last much longer. H4H would be a great one to make, because most regular folks really don't know the characters, so there wouldn't be any preconcieved notions as to what the show should be. It's also a team, as opposed to just one hero, so there are a ton of directions you could take it as far as new storylines and bad guys.
