Mad Hatter casting thread

It just hit me! Ben Wishaw.

A bit too attractive for Jervis to be honest. I always imagined Jervis to look like a complete creep

I've never seen Whishaw be crazy. He tends to play these soft-spoken intellectual guys.

I know Ryan Unicomb has said in the past that Toby Kebbell is likely playing Scarecrow in the film, but what if that info is from an older draft and Reeves switched Scarecrow out with Mad Hatter to use a villain that hasn't been adapted to the big screen before but still be able to incorporate a hallucinatory set piece for Batman to go through?

While Mad Hatter is one of those characters that I often find myself thinking that a lot of the best options to play them would be wasted in the part and could easily be more wisely used for a more prominent role elsewhere, I could totally see Kebbell making a huge splash as Mad Hatter, even if it's just for something that amounts to a glorified cameo.

While I'd rather see him playing the Ventriloquist, I think John Lithgow could do Mad Hatter justice. I see him playing a version of the character that's a eccentric old inventor, who suffers from delusion and has an unhealthy love of young girls.

How about a Mad Hatter with a musical background?

not for Mad Hatter because I don’t think he’s in the film nor does he have the look

He really only fit the Penguin in my mind. However after long thinking about the seemingly negative responses to my suggestions; I went back and rewatched Sheeran act in some scenes and I have to somewhat agree that he doesn’t fit the role of any Batman character and that Colin for Penguin is the way to go

as for mad hatter; what about Iwan Rheon? Or Callum Turner; he’s a tremendously underrated actor who has such huge crossover potential

Was about to reply to him saying what you did. Good lord, why are some constantly bringing him up in these threads. I didn't think he was that popular.

He's not. Anyone who thinks a whole new wave of fans would flock to The Batman because zomg Ed Sheeran is in it is realllllly overestimating how much sway Ed Sheeran has.

Well hopefully his acting career will be limited to that cameo of sorts on Game of Thrones.

They should just recycle Martin Short's Mad Hatter.

I watched that weird ass movie so much as a kid.

lol also as a kid, my favorite for the role was David Spade. Tbh he would’ve worked well for a Schumacher sequel

Why is it such a surprise? He’s popular because he is a multi-talented and skilled creative superstar with a commanding presence. Music, poetry/lyrics, singing, writing and now making his way into acting and more visual arts. He has legions of fans and seeing him in a huge budgeted movie in a rather large role would be a brilliant creative and marketing move to attract audiences which it would obviously

That said he would best be introduced in a musical comedy or love story first before getting into more complex characters like villains

Not that cockroach again...

I could also go for Freddie Highmore if we want to go a bit younger. Though If he were Hatter, I’d make him blonde and shave his eyebrows.

I feel like Hatter needs to be ugly. A complete creep. If he's not something doesn't feel right, tho it'd hardly break the movie.

The Gotham version of Hatter wasn’t ugly, and he worked well for me.
