Mad Hatter casting thread

No lie, I pick up a hint of Joker there too. Especially in this picture. Though, if they make Alfie up really well, like giving him greasy blonde hair and tired eyes, he could own it.

I think it’s safe to say that if Keoghan isn’t playing Mad Hatter, then the character is probably not in this movie at all. Unless it’s some REALLY obscure actor who is buried in the press release.

I want to see a Mad Hatter that looks like the one from BTAS, so I went with Mike White.

Yes! If not this thread, in the fuller casting thread. He's been my pick for sometime now.

I think he's an unexpected enough choice where he could really turn in something special and make the character memorable.

I think that's pretty great too, especially if Hatter is very limited role--but I'm not sure if Mike White does much onscreen work these days. And even then, I'm not sure if his performance could quite get there (love him in School of Rock though).

Schwartzman's great because he's comedic, but could still play a dark underbelly that comes with Mad Hatter territory. Plus, he's worked with great directors and has an impressive filmography as a character actor.

I think another great actor would be Paul Walter Hauser. He's not quite the traditional look of Hatter, but I just think he'd be awesome in a Batman movie.

I mean, if you want Mike White, just get Ewen Bremner, he looks exactly the same, but is, you know, an actual actor.

He's more of a writer / director who occasionally takes very small parts in his own projects. He's an actor in the same way Kevin Smith is.

Hate actors playing different characters in the same universe, but who knows if Wonder Woman is even canon with this.

True, but Flashpoint maybe? Even still, I don’t think Bremner’s a knock-out choice where they need to dip into the cast of currently established DC films.

I still get bothered by Alfre Woodard’s cameo in Civil War, when she’s Mariah in Luke Cage. And we’ll have to see if Chan’s role in Eternals is good enough to ignore her as Minerva in Captain Marvel. My head canon :woo:!

It's not the same universe. Considering Wonder Woman exists in a universe where Batman is Ben Affleck.

That logic doesn't *really* apply, any more than saying "Iron Man isn't in the same universe as the Avengers, because Iron Man exists in a universe where War Machine is Terrence Howard." Casting is casting.

That's not the same situation at all. War Machine was obviously still the same character in the same ongoing universe.

The Batman has nothing to do with Batfleck.

I think Iwan Rheon has been named but he’d be dope for this as well. Sinister and slimy looking lol

I've always wanted this.

Further emphasized by his part in Seven Psychopaths tbh

"Why don't you tell me whatever you're gonna tell me and I'll go make us some coffee, how about that?"

"Uuum, TEA."

"What?"

"T E A "

"Tea!... Why not?"

I could go for a sort of Alice Cooper style Hatter. Local rockstar with leather pants, a wonderland inspired jacket and a Cheshire Cat shirt passing out drops at his concert.

If it ain't Keoghan then he's my next choice

I still see him as more of a Joker. I really don't see what aspect of the Hatter you see in him.
