Well since we have the finale for season 8 coming thursday we might as well get started on season 9 talk here.

i am really hoping for an intro to Darksied, or mention of him in Nine, but we will most likely get Zod again.

Yea since we had bruno this season, i would like to maybe see him return, the rise of intergang as a seasonal threat. Which doing them for a couple episodes would save a bit budget wise. Then through in some darkseid minions coming to earth to supply intergang and to watch this kryptonian in action. I would pick granny or maybe dasaad(spelling?) for a couple of episodes and then save actually seeing darkseid to middle/end of the season for 2-3 episodes. And if we are getting zod back maybe darkseid and zod team up.

this thread is a good idea. it will be fun to read this thread again once season 9 is finished. I still get a kick that we thought Doomsday would be horrible yet most of us ended up liking it.

I think Zod is a certainty and the info we want will start coming in July starting with ComicCon

Yea we wont have much to talk about to comic con/season 9 actually filming in early mid july. Hopefully we can get some smallville spies out to studio area.

Its strange, everyone knows the Smallville locations yet set reports are scarce. In doctor who fandom there are photos and spoilers everytime the show films outside the studio. I would think a Hollywood production would cause more of a fuss but it doesn't. They run a tight ship in vancouver

well the problem for example this year they didnt really go down town much, or do any other location shots in the area. They mostly stuck to the backlot street sets they built, the daily planet, kent house(interior)/barn sets, and talon sets. And its alot hard to get any pics of that stuff since its inside their studio. And its very hard to get on set. So if you went down to their studio at most you can see if the metropolis street sets, and maybe get lucky seeing an actor or two leaving their trailers, or heading out of the studio.

Since i am done with school in a month, which i cant wait. I am hoping to maybe plan a trip out there and go around to the various past filming locales.

Talking about a quick start lol... :D

I have the feeling many fans are not going to be satisfied with the finale for different reasons, the fight, SFX, the deaths, Clark's mistakes, not flying yet, Zod coming back, etc... So I think ratings will go down for S9, which could lead to it being the final season like it should be, Clark has to become Superman like the producers said, it would be stupid if it takes him two more freaking years to get there after the events of "Doomsday", which was supposed to make him Superman if it were the series finale.

Part of the interview with E! where TPTB talk a bit about S9:

Kelly Souders: You're definitely going to see the Justice League in a way you've never seen them before. Clark and Oliver's (Justin Hartley) relationship is going to really be pushed to the brink. I think it's going to be really shocking for the fans to see the season finale. Clark definitely emerges in a different place than he started the season in. [Next season] he has to overcome—he has to be Superman.

Just out of professional curiosity, does that mean we'll see Tom Welling in some spandex tights next year? I know the fans really want to see that.

Brian Peterson: Probably not as soon as you expect, but you never know. The one person who doesn't want to see that unfortunately is Tom Welling, so that's a bigger conversation.

Has there been talk of other members of the Justice League crossing over in the finale or next season?

Brian Peterson: We started what will hopefully be a new focus of the show that we'll be bringing in allies for Clark next year. We had a lot of DC villains this year and a lot of DC heroes, and we're hoping to continue that into next year.

.....

Brian Peterson: Clark may have some significant obstacles in his destiny next year. It may be the darkness before the rise of Superman. He's going to face probably his darkest hour I would say. He really was on a trajectory this year, but he's made some decisions that put him down a different path.

Kelly Souders: He's going to be paying the price for some rather large mistakes from the finale.

Those quotes, and the talk of possibly going on to season 10, are what make me think that, as much as this season had people saying "Well, he's so close to becoming Superman, they just can't put it off any longer anymore," they're going to surprise everyone and further delay his becoming Superman by shaking up everyone's story in a major way, sending everyone on, essentially, a big destiny detour in the aftermath of the series finale.

since there talking about season 10 already what can we expect from the 200th episode if there ever was one?

Yea its just so hard to judge where things are going to go.

Having Clark fly in the finale should be a way of getting fans pumped up and wanting to see season 9 rather than going we're going into S9 and still no flight. I know I would be like I can't wait for S9. But I doubt it'll happen.

Yea i hope to see flying in finale but not holding my breath for it. But they do need to make it a power he can fully access next season, even if we only see him do it 2-3 times. We got to remember budget wise doing flying scenes take alot of money to do to get just right. And we probably wont know the shows budget untill 9th season rolls around. Hopefully the idiots in charge toss a bit more cash their way. Just think of what they could be pulling off weekly if they had a budget of lost or a budget of heroes.

I hope we get some kind of reference to the costume next season. Maybe him pieceing it together or collecting the pieces (like the cape, symbol, etc.) or having the JL doing some prototypes.

Smallville is going into its 10th season. The original show runners and creators are gone.

Clark still isn't Superman.

Am I the only one that sees the problem here?

More to show that Gough and Millar had no ending in sight for the show and didn't know what the hell they were doing.

Totally agree, specially on that last statement. I think they had an idea where they wanted to do with the character, but something happened along the way. Maybe a contract dispute?

Heck, Clark doesn't even have his glasses yet.

I wonder (hope) if Warner will allow more leeway with Smallville to go towards Clark as Superman. I say this because the theatrical version of Superman is still in developement hell. And Smallville Supes won't conflict.

I'm excited to see the new Watchtower set....as I'm kind of jazzed to think that the JLA will play a bigger role in the season, maybe with Clark as their unofficial leader since Oliver proved he can't handle it very well.

Oh wow, I completely forgot about the Watchtower set... that's supposed to show up in the finale, isn't it? And then carry over into S9?

it's a good theory. I'm surprised that Welling signed for two more seasons.

I am, too. Like many keep saying, just because an actor is signed doesn't necessarily guarantee the show going on that long, but... in the case of Mr Welling, I think it's safe to assume that, if he's signed, and the ratings are sufficient, there will be a season 10.

But yeah, I'm definitely surprised he's signed for two more. He must be making mad bank.
