Yeah, yeah, I know...we haven't started Season 7 yet and I'm ready to talk about Season 8.

Well, after watching the Season 6 finale, I am so energized to see where this re-imagination of the Superman mythos is going.

Bizarro is mostly likely the villain for Season 7 (or at least a sub plot to a larger story), but how will that season end?

And most importantly, who should they feature as the villain for the 8th and final season of Smallville? (which will most likely not have Lex Luthor in it)

Cast your opinions and thoughts HERE!!!

suprised you didnt put braniac as an option since he has already been setup

None of these villains (with maybe the exception of Brainiac but that has already been done on Season 5) has the ability to have a story arc that stretches out for one whole season. That's why I don't think there's a chance for Smallville to do a season without Lex in it as a main character...

You're right. My thought is that the 'new' villain would play as a subplot to the larger story arc for the final season. Krytonsite.com has stated several times that Michael (Lex) is only signed on for 7 seasons and that he would like to expand his acting abilities beyond television.

Would Smallville survive without Lex?

Should there be more than one villain introduced throughout the whole season? Maybe look at the season as 3 story arcs that combine!

Anyway...let's have fun with the speculations of where Smallville could go in it 8th and final season!!

I'm leaning more towards introducing Parasite...not sure why just yet. During the channel 11 news at 10pm they showed several clips of returning and new shows for the Fall 2007 line-up at the CW. One of the shows was "The Reaping" which showed a character (I believe to be the devil) that would be a great effect for Parasite (a la Alex Ross' latest interpretation of the character from his JUSTICE run...the pale purpleish whithered looking skin look).

Although a Metallo character would also be cool.

I would truly love something a bit more 'otherworldly' and epic for the final season. Some huge event the triggers the need for the Superman persona. Clark would feel that his abilities need to be seen on a more global scale, and that he must become more than just a man but more a SYMBOL for freedom for the human race! This threat would have to be catastrophic. Very Darkseid. Very Doomsday. (Doomsday could be Darkseid's puppet in an initial story arc, sort of an envoy for the coming darkness.)

I think most of those villians should be left for once Clark is already established as Superman. Not in Smallville.

I wouldn't mind seeing Brainiac return.
However, When you're talking about an 8th season, and in theory it's a season without Rosenbaum, I'd prefer to have it during Clark's world travels. If you've got no Luthor menace, Martha's (probably) still in Washington... There's not a whole lot keeping Clark in Smallville.

I agree with Syncos, that's why in my opinion they could only do season 8 without Rosenbaum if they take Clark in world travels like he said (which could happen in season 7 anyway) or if they take him into Metropolis as a reporter and he starts having different kinds of threats...
Metallo and Parasyte in stand alone episodes would be fun but the problem is the writers already had similar kinds of characters in other episodes like Leech and even the Angel of Vengeance if I'm not mistaken had a Kryptonite heart.

please no season 8. the season premiere yesterday showed that teh writters have no story to tell anymore.

end big. dont end the show because people will not watch it anymore.

A threat which can strech an entire season is Intergang: yes it was slightly done with Morgan Edge in season 3 but clearly it can be done with another characters like Bruno Mannheim. Doing The Intergang like a mob in Metropolis but streching its influence around the U.S, in major cities like *hint* Gotham, Star City, New York, L.A, etc, would be perfect for a season 8. That would put Clark travelling and Lois, jimmy and Chloe and possibly Perry, do some investigating.

Nevertheless, I still prefer season 7 to be the last, going out in a bang.

And What about Season 8...

I really hope this series ends in Season 7 . (At this point Clark should've already compleated his training with his Father Jor-EL & left "Smalllville" to begin to fullfill his Ultimate DESTINY !!!!! :super:)

I really don't want to see Season 8 .

Second that. If we go to Season Eight, they'll be blessed.

I don't want a Season 8 either. Finish with 7 and maybe go onto a spinoff show

I'm greedy. I'll take whatever they want to dish out, which would include an 8th season. If folks want to see it end at seven, they can "end it" for themselves. :)

I'll be on this ride as long as Tom is. It's just that easy.

True enough.

Quoted for Truth!

Exactly!!! :D

Yup.

*nods and smiles knowingly*

I'm in for the long haul, as long as Tom is in the show I'll keep on watching even though they may have otherwise jumped the shark.

I think they should end it in Season 7 with Rosenbaum (since this will be his final season) He's their best & Strongest actor of the series .

Tom good, But I think Rosenbaum owns him (Since he's a two time Saturn award winner, among other things) Lex Luthor is what keeps this show intresting .

If there is a Season 8 with Lana, Lex and Chloe gone, I'm hoping Lionel becomes the villian again.

Hoping whatever Jor-El did to his mind is somehow eradicated and he goes back to being the MB he is.

I can't stand him as a good guy; especially with MM around. Clark has enough allies. JG plays a better nemesis.

People are jumping the gun with Season 7 being Rosenbaum's last season, that's what he stated, but Gough also said that they could bring him in again to guest star, still we'll never know until we're at least in the middle of Season 7, Gough wants the CW to tell them if they'll have an 8th 1 at around that time, if they don't, they'll start the "launch sequence" to end it.

If there is a Season 8, and if Rosenbaum leaves, you can be sure they'll bring some other villain who's just as interesting to write for as Lex Luthor is, and I'm sure they'll get a good actor for the role as well, there's a variety to choose from, it shouldn't be a problem.

Survival is the keyword here, the characters, the actors, the show itself, the network itself.

The CW NEEDS SV, I don't see them telling Gough to end it at 7.

You've got a point their, SMALLVILLE is their number 1 tv series , (That is keeping THE CW from death) What will The CW do once their sv is finished ?

Spinoff? I don't know what Phil Morris knows exactly but that's what he seemed to imply in a recent interview, even though he said he was just talking as a "fan". I don't know if the CW wants any more superhero shows though, they said no to Aquaman & Green Arrow.

With GG gone, VM gone, 7th Heaven gone, they aren't left with much. ANTM & SV will have to carry the network now.

I can't believe they got rid of Veronica Mars (just when the show was starting to get intresting, they pull the damn plug .) :cmad:

ANTM sucks it's AI without the singing & Simon , I really don't get the damn attraction .

MORRIS: I was so honored to be a part of this universe now because they’re going to take it to a place the fans are absolutely going to love. Who I ended up being in his life, which is a little different than the comics, it will lend itself to the evolution of SMALLVILLE as a series and then lay the groundwork for METROPOLIS or JUSTICE LEAGUE or whatever they want to do in terms of branching off for other series.

It can’t all be classic DC fare, like the fans might be expecting, but what we’re going to do is raise it to a level of expectation for the fans and give the show the kind of tracking it needs to bridge the gap between SMALLVILLE and the eventual METROPOLIS.

Here’s my speculation; they can’t have Wonder Woman because someone is doing that, they can’t have Batman because of the movies, and those are two of the major JLA members that they can’t use. So they bring in Martian Manhunter, which fills some of the gap. Maybe we’ll see Hawkgirl? Who knows? If they base the show in METROPOLIS we can all operate out of there, and even though Central City is big with the FLASH. I’m an actor speaking as a fan saying that I am excited to see what the permutations will be.

Make of that what you will.
