Man dressed like The Joker slain by police in park

2:03pm EST, on Friday, March 13th, 2009.

Dark Knight quotes have officially become more annoying than Family Guy quotes.
Who's leg do you have to hump to get a dry martini around here?

What's up with the hostility towards the Bat Boards? I could understand if it was over enthusiasm for a festering cesspool of a movie like Bayformers 2, but the Dark Knight? An actual good movie? Just lighten up for God's sake. Are you like Marvel fans?

No....but we are tired of the Bat fans screwing things up for the rest of us....the already existing stigma against comic fans doesn't need worsening due to idiots like the aforementioned....

Personally, I'm startled at how many people in that zone seem to hate Robin. I haven't been to the Bat-boards since The Dark Knight was a distant star that nobody knew the name of yet.

Rational Batfan takes the stand:

The extremist wing of the fanbase is very annoying, I agree. What's becoming just as annoying is the negative folks, the anti-fans. It's just silly.

Us poor fans who aren't emo and *********e over dead celebrities and cry ourselves to sleep at night because Heath-Joker changed our world views and made us stain our purple underwear are left feeling uncomfortable because we enjoy something that is becoming hated for no other reason than having a lot of stupid fans. Let's all lighten up, shall we?

I can understand, but it's getting silly. I mean, where the f*** is the fire at? I don't see anything on the boards at the moment to be going off on one like this all the time. The very thing you're all complaining about is being perpetuated by yourselves while doing so.

Us poor fans who aren't emo and *********e over dead celebrities...

I lol'd...for real. :lmao:

But seriously, I'll be really impressed when the cops shoot an attacker that looks like movie-verse Iron Monger.

This post should be stickied and posted all around the forum. Well said, Eggy.

Sounds like Emo talk to me , eggers.

Well, at least you're man enough to admit it. :yay:

Ill give you my two cents on the whole spiel.I understand where the 'real' batman fans are coming from.At the same time I think they should try and appreciate the fact that their little niche(if you will) is enjoyable to the masses in at least some form.I myself use to have much hate for people who liked Ninja Turtles when the cartoon originally came out.I took that stance like "You dont know **** about turtles!" After time I grew up and learned to like the fact that its mass appeal was enjoyable to people because of that form (the cartoons / toyline)

In my eyes as bad as that aspect of batmania seems we "true" comic fans can still be far worse than the bandwagoneers. I always point to comicbookguy as an example. While I love him, regular folk dont know who the hell 'nestro is , nor can they appreciate inside references to him.

''You wanna know how I got these scars?''
''No, but I know how you got these *shoots gun*''

It really busts my balls when you get some snotty comic lovers bi**hing because they found it first, they read the book, they have the f**king posters on their walls. Who gives a sh**?

Elitist bullsh**.

If people enjoy it, they enjoy it. They don't have to put a certain amount of time in to enjoy something. It's there for their purchase whenever they're ready, in whatever medium it's available.

But that happens all over these boards.

Bandwagoners? What's wrong with bandwagoners? Absolutely nothing. Some guy at WB/DC or Sony/Marvel decides that something is good enough for the masses... they send something out to reach a wider audience, and then you have the fans complaining because they don't want to lose their lil underdog baby. They don't want to share something that was exclusive to them for all those years. Some Watchmen fans don't like the film because it's attracting people, wait for it, heaven forbid, that haven't read the book. Why those despicable bastards! How dare they be so callus and conceated by not reading the book before enjoying a film. It's unheard of! They need f***ing shooting. Having the bare cheek to go to the cinema and watch a film and enjoy it for what it is, disrespecting the source material and all.

Sweet Jesus.

'Bandwagoners' lol = people that like the look of something without previously experiencing it in another/original medium. It's absolutely spastic to be thinking in such a way. Can they not just be happy that their baby is finally getting mass recognition?

No. It's like having a best friend who gets a new circle of friends. They may be nice, but they wasn't there to help him when he sh** his pants in second period the year before.

Honestly, I'm getting wound up with this sh**. WTF have you done to me? :cmad:

Back on topic :csad:

Dude really wasnt my intention to get you all hot about it.What you're saying about Watchmen, Im totally freely admitting that use to be when it came to Turtles lol. And now that I am older I do appreciate and enjoy the fact that people have found joy in it via the silly cartoon and toyline. Watchmen is a good comparison because its a damn good series that people like my nieces would've never been interested in without the film to get excited about. If anything, 'Uncle Ed' telling them its a great series is a deterrent.I dont expect people to be all smiles and giggles that their 'baby' is getting mass recognition for recognitions sake. But to at least take solace in the fact that its 'coolness' has been rewarded through the popularity.

It's cool. I wasn't really getting 'all hot' at you, dewd, just the idea of the elitist being snobby about casual fans. I myself am a casual fan by most respects and have always been annoyed by that attitude that if you haven't read the original material then you have no right to like it once translated.

Silence....bandwagoner!!!!!:cmad: go watch American Idol or something

Yes comic book "snobs" are by far the worst people out there. They put fanboys to shame with their obsessive nature. And they put the masses to shame with their idiotic rantings.

:hehe: Well, that is bad.

But I mean comic book snobs, elitists whatever you wanna call them really piss me off.

I mean, don't they want their favourite medium recognized as something more than just a niche for silly children?

It's like if you wasn't a comic book fan since you was a child you can't be a new comic book fan when you are older?
