Man, "Game of the Year" is going to be a REAL hard one...

Who knows, Rock Band could get votes too. I see it being Bioshock, though. While people will cry "NOOO", it brought the masses a new style of playing thru an FPS. COD4 is getting raving reviews as well, but I see Bioshock, COD4 then Mario Galaxy as a top 3 game of the year candidates...

 

I think Mario Galaxy will take it.

It is like Leo DiCaprio and the Oscars. He always releases two Oscar worthy performances around the same time each year like Blood Diamond and The Departed or Catch Me If You Can and Gangs of New York. His votes get split between them and neither win. It will be that way with GOTY this year with all the first person shooters. You have so many great ones, that they split the votes between them and Mario Galaxy gets to slide in and take it.

 

smg or bioshock............halo3 for me is a toss up.......rock band or gh3 might have a shot and mario and sonic at the olimpics(cant a girl dream..........a besides dont underestimate the casuals they know things what those things are i dont know but they know.............i think?)

 

I'd say Bioshock, Assassin's Creed or maybe Mass Effect. Uncharted I'm not sure of yet. Gotta wait and see. CoD4 I don't see being a serious contender only because some of the other games mentioned have some great new innovations.

 

I'd say Bioshock would be a shoe-in were it not for the over-abundance of FPSes this year. That makes the conditions ripe in my opinion for Mario Sunshine or Assassin's Creed to slip in and steal it.

 

I had my doubts on AC, but if they got the controls down as far as it looks like from the reviews and along with a surprisingly good story, it'd be hard to beat. I'm sure Mario Galaxy will snag a few GOTY awards as well, which pretty much takes Metroid Prime 3 out of the running altogether.

 

mp3 still got a chance......it has nintendo on it and we all know how stuff with nintendo is selling these days i joke ppl but seriously i think mp3 has a chance ppl said it was the closes thing to a mouse on a consloe and was near perfection of what a shooter on console should be.....that counts for something??

 

I think the biggest contenders will be Bioshock, Halo 3, Super Mario Galaxy and of course Uncharted. I think one of those 4 will definetly take the prize across msot of the lists with the first 2 most likely getting the most recognition

 

MP3 might get Wii GotY but I dont see it getting overall game of the year anywhere else. For a First Person Shooter/Adventure, Bioshock owns it in that category. Most regard MP3 as a great game but its overshadowed by Bioshock and most likely will not get the top recognition

 

I dont see Halo 3 getting it. While its a great game, its not they knockout game like Bioshock or potentially SMG.

 

Me either. There are too many other games that have come out or will come out that have made significant strides in control, story telling, etc. Right now I'd take CoD4 over Halo 3 as far as online shooters go. Cod4 is the most fun I've ever had in a FPS because of the innovations they made to the multiplayer experience.

 

Halo 3 will be getting some GotY awards. Its pretty much a given. People are still on a Halo 3 high and swear by that game. If anything the hype will earn it some noms whether it deserves it or not. Its inevitable so dont be surprised when you see it declared GoTY on some sites

 

I think they have to differentiate somehow with these GOTY awards between how good a game is and how popular a game is.

 

Halo 1 and 2 already got enough awards, it's still very popular but that doesn't mean it's GOTY material.

Just finished playing the Uncharted demo and if this is any indicator of the final product, its definetly a very strong contender for GoTY. It definetly will be the PS3's GoTY.

 

Nice, is it worth getting a PS3 for? And i mean ONLY for. Im thinking of getting a PS3 for that game and only that game, cuz if a game comes out on both platforms then ill get the 360 version.

O, and the BluRay would be nice to have as well.

No, it's not worth my time. Besides, it's not about whether or not Ratchet & Clank is a good game or not that I have to play it before I pass judgment on it. It's about whether or not it is GOTY material. It doesn't take a f**king GENIUS to figure out that there's no way Ratchet & Clank is even a bloody contender for the GOTY trophy when there are far more critically acclaimed, revolutionary and innovative games in the competition.

 

Well I wouldnt say any game is worth getting a system for if you only want to play that game. $460 for one game is quite alot. But if you do plan on using your PS3 for other stuff, then yes. I may be biased but I think this will be the best PS3 game out going into the holiday season. Everyone that owns the system should be buying this game. I cant speak for the finished product but the demo was fantastic. I defiently see it selling those who werent paying attention to this title before
