Man, "Game of the Year" is going to be a REAL hard one...

I'm not sure about that one. Plain, old-fashioned ignorance can be construed as more irritating than blind denial of the facts. This seems to be a case of denial rather than just being incomprehensibly stupid.

Get over your bias first, idiot. I can't believe the only game you "forgot" was Uncharted, and you're trying to tell me stuff? Pretty much every game mentioned has gotten all-around great scores on avg, and the ones that haven't come out yet look to do the same. Yet you'll still go against the PS3 exclusive ones. Nice XX, only notice that the pro-PS3 side has no valid points, when the pro-360 side hasn't really stepped up to the plate either. Unless you see this: "It won't even get nominated, not with Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3, Crysis, Mario Galaxy, World in Conflict and Call of Duty 4 in the mix.", as a valid arguement. And you try to call me a fanboy, that's rich.

How is that a pro-360 argument when 6 out of 8 games mentioned are either multi-platform or not on the 360 at all?

What PS3 exclusives outside of Uncharted are even in the running? None. I'm sorry Ratchet and Clank stand no chance against every other game. This year has been pretty amazing in the amount of quality games being released, especially this month alone. Games are really starting to innovate and approach things differently. Ratchet and Clank isn't one of them. Not saying its not a good game, but compared to CoD4, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, probably Mass Effect and Uncharted I guess, it really pales in comparison.

Actually, if you were taking the two capitalized letters in my username to make up a spiffy nickname for me, it'd be XK. Not XX, as in Dos Equis, the beer.

Anyways... I would say that's a much more solid argument than anything you've produced - which is nothing. Platformers, especially ones that aren't as well reviewed as flagship titles of other genres, are generally overlooked for GOTY awards. Most of the awards go to the best FPS or the best RPG, or maybe adventure game. Not to mention that the Halo 3 hype machine is present, and Bioshock is a wholly revolutionary title. I wouldn't say Ratchet and Clank is in the mix, no. The competition is too stiff for it to really win that caliber of an award, especially with many more games that the community has ranted and raved about on the horizon.

He'll need a brain to process and correlate the seemingly "complex" messages encoded in my posts. :ninja:

Because I've actually listed games from different platforms instead of throwing a b***h-fest like you over one PS3 platformer being dismissed as not being GOTY material.

Uncharted
Mass Effect
Bioshock
Rockband
Asassins Creed
Crysis
Mario Galaxy
World in Conflict

Are all contenders

I don't think these games will win

Halo 3 - It's more of the same, the campaign is so so and the multiplayer is an improvement over Halo 1 and 2, but the game isn't setting any standards like the previous 2 were and the rest of the genre has caught up to the kind of things that were revolutionary when Halo was doing them on the Xbox.
Guitar Hero III - It's the third in a series facing enormous cultural competitiveness from Rockband, which is basically Guitar Hero + more.
Call of Duty 4 - A 5 hour campaign is just too short, and it's pretty much a prettier much more intense Call of Duty 2.

I don't think Crysis will win. The demo is fun and everything, and it looks gorgeous, but it doesn't feel like a GOTY thing. World in Conflict is my favorite for PC Goty, I'm not really sure what overall will be. WiC or Bioshock I think.

I may agree with your points, but you can't rule out the hype machine. Even though I am already pretty much bored of Halo 3 and haven't even had it in my disc tray for two-three weeks, reviewers were/are drooling over it, still, nonetheless. Halo has always been incredibly hyped, regardless if it actually is the "best game ever" or not.

Holy crap we agree on something. :o

Yeah I can see it winning because of the hype factor.

Halo 3 is a possible contender for the fact that it is THE most customizable multiplayer shooter out there with practically unlimited replayability and offers a pretty good overall package of offline and online play. Likewise, it is unwise to dismiss COD4 over just it's short campaign, and pretty much every reviewer has stated that online action is where the REAL COD4 action is at. As for it being only a "prettier, much more intense Call of Duty 4", please tell me you're kidding. Infinity Ward has crammed in a ton of all-new amazing stuff, some of it not only being a first for the series, but also for the FPS genre itself, that proves it is more than the same basic game with upgraded visuals.

We've agreed on some issues before. It's hard to recall them over the excessive amounts of disagreeing/hate and discontent that we're engaged in 'over the years', but it happened more than once. Maybe, in a different world we could've been friends. [/melodramatic Star Trek quote]

Quite honestly, I was unimpressed with Halo 3. It was cool and amazing - for the first play through the campaign and after I played the multiplayer and realized it was Halo 2 with a camera and minor map editor.

Heck, the only PS3 title that actually has a good shot at this year's GOTY honors is Uncharted.
I gotta agree with that. R&C is good but its not GoTY. Its wont even be the PS3's GotY. That honor will lie with Uncharted with R&C being an honorable mention

Halo 3 has easily the best campaign of the series.

The multiplayer is also the bearer of the most options in any console shooter, outdoing even Perfect Dark on the N64.

No, it's not worth my time. Besides, it's not about whether or not Ratchet & Clank is a good game or not that I have to play it before I pass judgment on it. It's about whether or not it is GOTY material. It doesn't take a f**king GENIUS to figure out that there's no way Ratchet & Clank is even a bloody contender for the GOTY trophy when there are far more critically acclaimed, revolutionary and innovative games in the competition. :whatever:

Shut up. I wish I could try to convince you of how stupid you are, but an idiot like youself wont see the genius that is R&C.

You have got to be kidding. No one could possibly be content with such unabashed stupidity.

Now now, little one, there's no need to be so angry. Mommy will come, fix you some ice cream, tuck you into a warm bed and tell you fascinating fairy tales about the legend of Prince Ratchet and the Clanky damsel in distress.

Halo 1 had a better campaign, although I guess anything is better than the terrible Halo 2 campaign. The Halo 3 campaign is crappier for being a lackluster finish to what was suppose to be a trilogy that was worth something. Gameplay wise, is was pretty much everything from Halo 1 and 2, nothing new. The deployables were mostly useless, the game is great in terms iof raw gameplay, but it's essentially a remixed 'been there, done that' the entire way through, and without compelling story driven content and a shortage of really compelling level designs, it was pretty catatonic. Story wise the game ends with a wimper. The ending after the credits is the only part that has the daring and imagination that the entire thing should have had.

You're never going to admit that all three are great :csad:

Only because it makes you cry at night. :)

The raw gameplay is great., but I don't think it deserves a GotY award.

Uncharted looks like a wimpy Tomb Raider knock off.
