Just wondering if anyone is worried that some of the general public will skip "Man of Steel" simply because there are other movies out in a close enough time frame. I really hope people are interested enough in Superman. Do you have that concern? Why or why not?

Not really none of them are coming out at the same time. My only concern us the bad taste the last film left there are people who won't even know this isn't a sequel.

This film looks so much different that people would have to be complete idiots to think MOS is a sequel to SR.

I would think the trailers will clear up any possible general public confusion, before actual release date.

I don't even think it left that bad a taste with anyone besides the internet crowd. Noted that I didn't go out and ask people, but it got good critical reception and whatnot. The few people I have talked to about it though have thought it was underrated or "eh, it was alright but it was kinda boring." But nobody I know hated it. I'm sure if Man of Steel looks cool it'll be smooth sailing, in that department at least.

I'm more concerned about Star Trek 2 and Ironman 3 getting an early box office jump on Man of Steel. I don't want the fickle public to feel like "Ok we just saw those a few weeks ago, lets just catch MOS on DVD" I suppose people could watch all 3 and Wolverine gets the short end of the box office stick.

I would like a main page SHH poll to ask for the most anticipated summer movie of 2013 if they haven't done so yet :)

But with people thinking Superman Returns was boring surely that's a bad taste and could put people off. I know lots if people who hated it. I really hope the next trailer blows people away so they know this isn't Richard Donners Superman or a Superman like they've seen before. I'm also hoping Nolan's name gets people interested they might think his Batman films were awesome this will be too.

The only thing that bothers me is that Man of Steel will only last one week at number 1 at the box office cause Pixar's Monsters University comes out the following week.

All it takes is word of mouth for a good fun movie and that won't be a problem.

If Amazing Spiderman made 700 million WW only after 5 years from the last sequel, i'm pretty sure MOS can make 600-700 WW 7 years after SR.

Bit different though Superman Returns was a solo film that was a love letter from films made in the late 70s early 80s and although Spider-man 3 sucked balls the first two were very well received and not as old as the Superman movies.

I still feel with enough marketing and good reviews, people will flock to see this film.
    Maybe I'm just optimistic.

I honestly think that deep down the people want a awesome Supes on the big screen. If it's as good as we want it to be and as good as it looks like it might be, the gp will be buying tickets no matter what else is out there...

No I do too tbh I think Nolan's name will be enough to at least get people intrigued and I think if it has a good opening and the film is great (I know its gonna be)?then it'l be a hit.

All signs point to a good movie, all my remaining worries will hopefully be squashed with the upcoming theatrical trailer.

    Haha...

    Pipedream.

Amazing Spider-Man already had a massive built-in audience from the previous films. The previous films were goldmines.

    SR... underperformed.

All MoS really has to sell it is Christopher Nolan's name.

Batman begins $372 million worldwide and the dark knight $1 billion worldwide.

Once they show a badass superman trailer people will go see it.
