Marc Forster to Direct World War Z - Part 1

Just saw this on blu ray. Surprised that I liked it so much, since I've kinda become tired of zombies lately. I thought brad Pitt did a good job. 8.5/10

The final climax of the film was probably the best part. Lot of suspense.

If it really was he who rewrote it, you have to applaud Damon Lindelof for his work on the end of the film. Bringing it down to a few players who we've grown to care about was the best possible move it could have made.

Yeah as much as I would have liked another battle it was a smart way to go.

Well, he's their 3rd biggest guy I think.

Tom Cruise(MI and Jack Reacher)
Shia Lebouf (Transformers, he's gone now but still.)
Chris Pine-(Star Trek and Jack Ryan)

dollar theater day!

good stuff, overall.
Pitt was the only actor I recognized.
As usual, no clues as to the beginning. It's just "there"... :-\
It wasn't clear on my first viewing-- was North Korea "stable"?
Somebody should have listened to the dog...
Amazing that Gerry and Segen find their way to the W.H.O. base after crash-landing randomly..
I wonder how many nuclear bombs have gone off, including purposely.. and where..
So mass-producing assorted near-fatal diseases makes for a camouflage.. I wonder what the black market response is.. what regional warlords will crop up now.

I was just about to post about this. Yea FYE has this and Star Trek Into Darkness for 15 bucks ( blu ray/ DVD/digital copy). I don't know If it's a Paramount Picture deal, but I am hoping Iron Man 3 will be on sale for 15 bucks this week.

not really a Paramount thing I got other movies on new release week for that price from different studios, but I do hope that IM3 is that price ;).

I finally saw this. I Loved it. Wish I'd seen it in theaters. I read that the theater version had no blood, but the unrated version I watched had a decent amount. I loved the scale of the film, it felt big. Hope a sequel gets off the ground.

Where was the blood in the unrated? I haven't watched it, but you're right that the theatrical version had legit no blood or gore at all. Even when zombies were being shot there wasn't really blood spray or anything...

Cant wait to see this again, have to wait a few more weeks here, but the surprise of the summer for me. Got me to read the book which was great as well.

In the unrated version there is blood on a couple of zombie attacks. A head stomping scene. The most gore was when a character has their hand cut off.

^Non of that was in the theatrical version, looking forward even more to seeing the unrated now as I did think some scene's lacked impact because of the complete lack of gore.

Marc Forster Won’t Be Back for ‘World War Z’ Sequel

Despite World War Z being one of 2013′s biggest surprise hits, the road to get there was very bumpy. Years of development preceded a difficult production, and during post-production, a whole new ending was written and shot. That raised questions and concerns about the film, most of which were directed at one man: director Marc Forster. It was probably more than any one person should have to handle.

So it’s not a surprise that Forster, who also directed Quantum of Solace and Finding Neverland, will not be back for a sequel, should it come to fruition.

The revelation came in a larger profile on star Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, in The Hollywood Reporter. Thanks to Bleeding Cool for the heads up.

Here’s the excerpt about the sequel:

Plan B also is developing a sequel to Z, which still is in its nascent stages, though director Marc Forster won’t be back. “We are talking about it,” says Pitt. “We are going to investigate a script. We have a lot of ideas we will cull from. Nobody is writing just yet, but we are compiling our ideas.”

Though it certainly seemed like Forster stepped into something he was not quite prepared for with World War Z, he ended up doing a more than serviceable job. However, imagine World War Z was directed by someone with more large scale action experience? Hopefully that’s the kind of person Pitt and Plan B look to for the second one…once there’s an idea and script in place.

Good, now all they need to do is replace the lead unless Brad is more charismatic this time around. I want Pine, though.

why in gods name would they replace Pitt. He was the best part of this film

Best part? That really isn't saying much when it comes to World War Z.

That's like saying the best part of going to your estranged and deceased father's funeral is that you two finally got to spend some time together. Or like saying the best part of having Schizophrenia is you'll always have someone to talk to.

Pine would be great.

jacobed, Pitt wasn't really the best part. The action was IMO.

I think its a real shame Forster wont be back, he is an under-rated director and some of this sequences in this were superb due to his direction, shame.

Forster was good and all, but I'm fine with the fact that they're moving on.

^It just means we run the risk of getting a director who doesnt get the material, at least Forster could have hit the ground running on the sequel.

Oh well, my suggestion is Frank Darabont for the sequel anyway.

What "material?" lol it was completely different from the book.

By material I meant the 1st movie, he was heavily involved in how the 1st movie and its story turned out, so surely he would be the best person to continue that?

Plus, it did use some sequences from the book, and they were pretty spot on as well. Other sequences from the book can be used in the sequel/s.

Which sequences from the book were in the movie?
