It appears the release date is gonna 12/21/2012. Great marketing, zombie apocalypse when the world is gonna end.

They knew what they were doing.

And if the world does actually end, I'm going to be so pissed. I hope they do a midnight screening. :o

Meh. I would rather watch Life of Pi.

Marc Forster is such a bland action director. Quantum of Solace sucked.

Damn, December is packed already. Anyway, great that they have put a release date for this flick.

Very high hopes for this. Keeping my fingers crossed. Pitt being in it gives me a lot of hope, as the guy doesn't usually do bad movies.

What sucks is this was supposed ot be filmed partially here in Philadelphia, but the state wouldn't guarantee them tax credits so their taking the production to Glasgow and making it look like Philly. I'd have moved Heaven and Earth to get an extra role in this had they done it here.

The ISS thing would be awesome to see. I hope they talk about what the Koreans did, that was actually one of the scariest parts in the book, in my opinion.

not sure I recall them doing much outside of going underground and disappearing?

The way he talked about it though was very ominous and chilling to me. I hope that can translate to film.

Gotcha. The part I found the scariest was the hordes of zombies that would just emerge from the ocean floor.

Yeah, that's pretty freaky too. I think my imagination just ran wild with the whole Korean thing.

Also from this info it sounds like the story is set during the zombie outbreak:

That's a bit odd considering the book took place a decade after the official end of the war on the zombies and was told in flashback from the eyewitness accounts to Lane.

From that write up it sounds like Lane is going to be trying to stop the outbreak?

Maybe they're planning on this being a franchise?

It also says that Matthew Fox is back in it, but wasn't there a story a few weeks back saying he dropped out?

I'm disappointed that they change the plot but I have to admit it wasn't really surprising, since this is a tent-pole movie.

Yeah, he did drop out from this project due to scheduling conflict with I, Alex Cross.

I'm a bit unsure of all this.

First, I'm unsure that plot synopsis is even accurate being that they list Fox as being in the cast which he's clearly not, or at least there's not anywhere else that's reporting it.

Secondly, if it is accurate. The hook of WWZ was the socio-political aspect of the aftermath of the zombies wreaking havoc on the world and how people dealt with it and the fact that zombies were a normal part of life even still.

It's not really a sci-fi action thriller where people are racing against the spread of the virus. (even if by film's end that race fails and opens the door for a sequel(s) that explore the aftermath.)

Plus, what the hell would Lane be doing to stop it? He's a journalist not virologist, unless they go and change that too.

Well, Collider and THR is reporting the synopsis too, so I think it's possible that it's legit.

Just found this on-set pic, Fox is definitely in the movie.

Huh...that's interesting. Well yay for Matthew Fox being back in it and hopefully the synopsis is all wrong. If it's true, then this could still possibly be a good Zombie flick, but it sounds like a poor adaptation of World War Z.

yeah although I think Fox being back in it is a good thing, the fact that it makes that synopsis more than likely true scares me.

I was surprised when I read the official synopsis, I haven't read the book but I know the movie's plot is not the same as the book. I guess if this movie's successful they're saving it for the sequel?

More or less he's going to actually be living through all those accounted events from the book, in order to give it a better pace I guess.

I hope not. I'd much rather have it told in flashback as Lane talks to people similar to how they did it in Hollywoodland.

$8.19 on Amazon. Is the book any good? 'Cause I got through like 12 pages of the Zombie Survival Guide then put it on the shelf.

And it has stayed there. Oh, also I love zombie movies and anything zombie related. Even the song by the Cranberries.
