Pretty pathetic that a big Hollywood summer movie with Brad Pitt is inferior to a modest-budget TV show on AMC. Seriously, The Walking Dead mops the floor with this crap.

And after reading the book, I'm baffled as to why this movie is called World War Z.
This doesn't look that good and The Walking Dead isn't that good either, not much better than this.

Okay what? If you think a poorly written and sometimes badly acted show is good that's up to your discretion.

Wocka wocka.

Anyway, the more I hear "summer blockbuster" in conjunction with the World War Z story the more I want to throw up.

I don't really have any desire to see this. I fail to see what's so special about Brad Pitt in either looks or acting ability, the CGI looks like crap (and just makes you look really lazy when you just CGI stuff like crowds of running people instead of just hiring extras and putting makeup on them), and it looks like stealing the book's title while having nothing actually to do with it.

It has its ups and downs, but it's a continuous show that has no end in sight. They have to essentially create a 48-hour movie - longer than that.

We're talking about a 2-hour, Hollywood blockbuster about zombies, and they can't even get the zombies right. It's like KFC running out of chicken, or Dunkin Donuts running out of donuts. If you can't do it correctly, DON'T DO IT. Don't try to sell something if you don't have the product.

And it's not even the book. Shall I continue?

I'd happily say No to this in exchange for a show that nails zombies perfectly with some questionable acting scattered here and there.

Hmm... yeah, I'll sit this one out, too. Nothing so far has convinced me that it's worth the ridiculous cost of even a matinee ticket.

Will also third (fourth?) the anti-CG zombie sentiment. That has got to be the laziest of lazy filmmaking. After "I Am Legend", I would think any semi-intelligent director would look at that and realize the tech just isn't there, and if it is, the cost to get it to look half-way decent is greater than paying Nicotero and his crew to paint-up some extras and let 'em have at it.

I really don't get how the idea got past the first meeting. It. Just. Looks. Horrible. If anything, that type of cynicism ("audiences don't care, they'll sit their fat a**es down for anything") just puts me off it even more.

I guess you have to excuse us lesser minds that don't understand the drivel known as Mad Men.

Yup. It's really the title that's selling the movie.

This actually reminds me of War of the Worlds.

Tom Cruise = Brad Pitt
War of the Worlds = World War Z

To each their own, it's nothing personal at all I just don't care for the show and was a religious viewer up until the current season. I agree it has its good and bad, but too much bad for my taste.

Back to this film though, it has nothing to excite me or show that it'll have any redeeming qualities, Brad Pitt looks like he's boring himself to death.

TWD is definitely an up-and-down show. The first half of the 2nd season was atrocious, and now this 3rd season seems to be a roller coaster of quality. Whole episodes will go by where nothing happens, or something will happen, but it leads us to square one. Very frustrating.

I'm late to the party. Why is everyone badmouthing this movie that's not even out yet?

oh is that all?

did anyone mention anything about the zombies being CGI?

okay okay okay.

I have to make a couple points and maybe I'll end up eating my words and I'm okay with that.

First, I'll agree with the above posters that the Walking Dead is a pretty lame show with poor acting. But it is unique. There is no other pure zombie fiction on television. So I will continue to watch it and occasionally enjoy it.

Second, I have a hard enough time thinking of half a dozen good zombie films. Let alone GREAT zombie films. In other words, I encourage any and all solid attempts at the genre.

Third, slapping Max Brooks' name on this movie doesn't make this a better movie. Would I love to see an adaptation of World War Z (the novel)? Hell yes I would! But am I going to let that dissuade me from enjoying a zombie flick with an A-list actor and budget? Hell NO I will not!

A two minute trailer is not enough for me to decide this movie is going to suck. Just like a two minute trailer is not enough for me to decide Pacific Rim will be good. I will watch the movie and make an educated decision.

I couldn't figure out what bugged me about Pitt, but you nailed it: he looks bored lol

I kind of want to see them replace the zombies in this movie with human-sized locust.

I've never had a major problem with the acting on TWD.

Same here, I love The Walking Dead. Also, I'm going to check out Wolrd War Z, even if it looks like it strayed from the book. I'll give it a chance.
