Marcus Cinemas vs. Cloverfield

Marcus Theatres also didn't release Sweeney Todd on its release date (Dec. 21). Seems like they're kinda uptight with negotiations.

yeah, what's the deal w/ that? it was mentioned in this same disclosure . . . I mean, what kind of negotiations do they have to go through!?

“Our ongoing negotiations have not resulted in film terms that are acceptable to Marcus Theatres and this film studio. Unfortunately, Cloverfield will not be exhibited on the date of its first run availability at our theatres.”

what exactly is "acceptable terms"?

Sucks to be living in the mid-west I guess.

Dude, it all revolves around money.

I can still go see it because there's an AMC, but only ONE in the city . . . which means it will pry be packed to the brim, and it's in a mall :( a busy ass mall!! :cmad:

beat the crowd, show early

Never even heard of "Marcus Cinemas" before.

Regal Cinemas FTW!

-Celebration Cinema
-Goodrich Quality Theaters
-Rave Motion Pictures

I'm all set to see it :word:

Well, Paramount might want a little more of the cut per ticket than Marcus is willing to give up. Which is stupid, because regardless the charge from Paramount, Marcus will still make big money off this movie.

It's times like these that I'm glad I live in LA, LA Land.

I would but I'm going as more of a date . . . I don't want to have to make her wait . . . maybe I'll just get the tickets early . . . or see something else :down

right . . . and at the rate movies are bootlegged these days, Marcus pry won't make dick on the film after opening weekend . . .

Marcus Cinemas FTL :down

Exactly.

I'm sure this situation with Cloverfield will hurt big, whereas Sweeney Todd took a couple weeks to expand.

Thankfully there's ONE non marcus theater here. (and it's in walking distanve from my house)

I'm glad the major theatre in my town is a Regal (which is getting the movie Friday. I checked.)

But...*sob*....alas....it's almost been a MONTH since Sweeney Todd has been out...and it STILL isn't here!!! :csad:

I can't go all the way to gurnee :(

Well that sucks. Actually, I only have Regal Cinemas, AMC, and Cinemark around my way. I couldn't care less.

:)

Big city and East Coast, FTW!
