ShockTillYouDrop.com reports that Marcus Nispel is reteaming with Platinum Dunes to direct the new Friday the 13th movie, written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.

Nispel directed 2003's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. Shannon and Swift previously penned 2003's successful Freddy vs. Jason.

Shooting on the New Line and Paramount/MTV project is expected to start soon.

It's a remake of the first one? So it will be about the mom again? Or, Jason? Or both?

I'm so confused. :csad:

I heard this is a sequel. Which is good!

Ah, so it's a seqwizzle? That's much better. *Sigh of relief*

Well at least that's what I think. When Halloween remake opened JoBlo posted a news where the proucers of Friday the 13th said "It's time for new Jason." There were no talk of remake or reimagining. Only "new Jason". So, I thought they meant sequel.

...but now I looked this news on movie websites and they're reporting it as a remake. Though, they still talk about Jason, and we all know he has only a cameo in the first...

Well I doubt they will be able to sell it without the big hockey mask guy. Maybe if it IS a remake they will end up skipping the Mom and bag head days. Or just rush through them.

I hope they don't do something stupid for Jason, like he goes into space and becomes a cyborg or something.

.... Oh wait. :csad:

I think it will be like Halloween H2O and be an alternate sequel. If you're not familiar, the original Halloween Continuity went Halloween - Halloween 2 - Halloween 4 (3 had nothing to do with myers so it doesn't count) - Halloween 5 - Halloween 6, and then H20 came out and branched off into a different continuity that went Halloween - Halloween 2 - Halloween: Water - Halloween: Resurrection. So I imagine it will be like that, an alternate sequel to either Friday the 13th, or Friday the 13th part 2.

That could work as well, odiin. I'd be interested in seeing something like that.

Well Nispel isn't the worst choice ever, cause his TCM remake was clearly modeled after the Jason movies, and not TCM and it still is one of the better remakes out there at least as far as my opinion goes

I would have liked Rob though, I'm a Rob fan I think he knows the differences between all these characters that some one less talented would over look, like he was still able to give Michael his subtleness while making the movie 3000 times goreier to please modern audiences, and at least imo probably the best possible Halloween remake anyone could hope for

I think the plan is to skip the mom part, and go directly to Jason w/mask. Though things could change from now until release..

Yup, thats what it sounds like to me.

its a SEQUEL. not a remake.

and its written by the same no talent ass clowns as f v j, so i have no hope for this.

Guys, it's a remake -- it clearly states it. The big change is that they're going to make Jason the killer and take psycho Mrs. Voorhees out of the equation. And Freddy vs. Jason was a fun throwback to the '80s style horror films in terms of blood and guts, and F13th isn't exactly high art in terms of film franchises.

I wasn't a big F13th fan... aside from Part VI and the latter two New Line-produced sequels, all the others had going for them were the scantily-clad women and the cool death scenes. This is a remake I'm looking forward to.

Good news.
I'm not a fan of the original TCM but liked the remake and the sequal a lot.

I'm always happy to hear about a new F13 movie. I honestly enjoy them all (with Jason goes to Hell being at the bottom of the list though). I'm hoping it's just a sequel though (and from what i've read is what it seems to be). I have a problem with remakes...not a fan of many of the modern ones when it comes to horror.

That wasn't a bad idea...just not a good script and stuff. :o The books made it work though (There's like 4-5 of those Jason X books...3 or 4 of them are sequels, too)

I like zombie Jason...:wow::huh: will Kane Hodder play Jason in this one?

Nispel isnt a bad choice. I liked the TCM remake alright. They certainly could have done worse. And I will have to agree with the consensus, that this is indeed a remake. As they will likely acknowledge the events of Mamma Voorhees' massacre at Camp Crystal Lake, but the main role will go to her "special boy" Jason.

will Kane Hodder play Jason in this one?

I'm sure he's checking into it.

Kane Hodder I think would have to come back

although he is not close to the best Jason
