Intentional and flagrant abuse of ellipses. I'm going to have to ask you to leave the field, son.

Intentionally ridiculous. I've spent nearly 18 years in the military so I'm all for a little tough love discipline.

Thank you for your service, in that case...but 18 years?! Why not go the two more and retire?!

btw, Jackrabbit I mean no disrespect to you or any other servicemen . . . it's a noble thing to risk your life for your country . . . but I feel there's a BIG difference between serving your country and blindly serving the government.

You're right. I didn't join the Marine Corps to carry out the orders of the president, I didn't join because I believe in our cause, I joined because men are dying, some with families and kids. That doesn't sit right with me. In high school, I always wondered 'why weren't more people joining up to help their countrymen?'

So, yeah. I had kind of an idealistic view of my whole enlistment, which has naturally changed a bit, but I'm still proud of my service and the training that helps defines us. And seeing that threatened bothers me.

I have no intention of getting out before my 20...gimme my pension and my medical benefits! :woot:

What pisses me off is that the few things the article did list talked about "striking" with "heavy" flashlights. Just how hard is it to be "striked?" Just how heavy is a "heavy" flashlight compared to a not-so-heavy flashlight?

Is there proof that this abuse was anywhere as severe as they claimed it was?

Yeah! :cmad:

The article conveniently neglected to mention that people were struck with SCOOBY DOO KEY CHAIN flashlights!

Roh NOOOooo!

^funniest. post. ever.

how do you come up w/ this shyt dude!? you either smoke weed constantly, or you've smoked so much weed in the past that you're body chemistry has been permanently altered . . . it's like you're a superhero whose power is to be superhumanly stoned at all times w/o smoking weed . . .

Rob Riggle never would've hit the recruits.

Maybe that's why I hate marijuana so much, 'cause my body naturally produces THC, so if I smoke it, it's like an overdose.

I'm also really absent-minded and totally lack ambition. :wow:

I should get it checked out.

*puts on bifocles* sounds like a classic case of chronic stoner-itis to me

Abuse gives you that killer urge to go kill more towel heads. Everybody knows that. :o

if youve ever been through basic training you'd know how sadistic drill sergeants are. I swear to god all my drill sergeants had PTSD from Iraq and took pleasure abusing privates.

When I went through basic about 1/4th my platoon ended up in the hospital. Mainly from "smoke sessions" except for that one fat ass that swung on a drill sergeant and ended up getting his ass kicked by a psycho e6 army ranger.

From what I've heard so far, I'm kind of torn between outrage against the charges and curiosity as to how bad it actually was.

Stuff like this is expected to happen, and then someone grows feelings and it gets blown out of proportion.

For the most part, I think it's bull****. But it had to be a pretty big deal for his chain of command to be relieved of duty.

point on the mannequin and tell me where he hurt you

You guys are called 'privates' in basic, I forgot. Does everyone get PV2 on graduation?

It's been a spell since I talked to a soldier.

EVERYONE GET THE **** DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MOUTAIN CLIMBERS GO!!!!! Dude, I know what I pogue is.:o:woot:

The "flashlight" they are undoubtedly referring to is called a "moonbeam" in recruit-speak.

I must've went through at least 8 while I was in boot. They're flimsy, and the only thing that makes the ****ing things heavy is the batteries you put in them.

They're no different from any other flashlight you'd use in the civilan world, other than it looks like this:

He wasn't using some giant metal cop flashlight, at any rate.:down

I was in the military and this flashlights hurt like a s.o.b. They're built to withstand alot of heavy abuse as a soldier travels throught various terrain, so they're not your run of the mill flashlights......
