Mark Millar's Many Thoughts On Superman

If they put Millar on this movie I will personally fly out to Burbank, go to the WB water tower and flood that entire goddamn studio.

In a wrath of God/Noah's Ark kind of way or a "let's turn this place into a giant Slip'n'Slide!" kind of way?

If they do a reboot. You don't neccesarily need to do an origin story. You can hire Alex Ross to create pics of Supes coming to Earth, growing up and finally being introduced to the World. And show them during the credits similar to what was done in Spidey.

I feel kinda sorry for Millar really.

You can tell that the man really loves Superman and would really like to do something more with Superman than just Red Son and Superman Adventures which have no impact at all on who Superman is.

Unfortunately with the way DC is right now, even if he decided not to renew his exclusive agreement with Marvel, they would never give him the privilege to write Superman or Action Comics. His style just isn't suited for the direction that the Superman comics are in right now.

And unless Singer is off the Superman movie franchise he's never going to be part of a Superman movie.

Well Millar keeps touting his horn. I'm not sure what his movie would look like, but I do not care for his concept of Superman. Still too pre-crisis.

We'll see, though.

yeah. probably. I didn't know I was the pope so I could make up some dogmas :hehe:

Pre-Crisis is just the iconic version. The post-crisis Super-Simp take was never accepted

I knew there was a reason I avoided you.

I think they should revisit the origin. It could be exciting if it's done right.

I hate to keep doing this but in MOS, Jor-el was almost like the rebel hero in Logan's Run. I'd love to see that on the big screen. I'd love to see the mile high city spires of the MOS mini-series as well as seeing the small flying vehicles and the vast, unspoiled landscapes interupted only by those golden cities.

this thread makes me realize how little people really know about Superman

How do you know? Did you look in our bedroom to see if we have Superman books, merchandise, & others here? :oldrazz: :oldrazz:

I don't think you have a shoot on doing with the WB water tower. At least not when the Warners Bros. & their sister, Dot, still live there. :D

In an interview with Fresh Ink’s Blair Butler, comic book author Mark Millar said he’d like to make a trilogy of films for a re-booted Superman series, and it might happen. Millar's vision for a new Superman:

"I've had this plan for like 10 years for a big three-picture Superman thing, like a Lord of the Rings epic, starting over from scratch again with a seven-hour Superman story. One to be released each year." Millar said.

Not sure if this has already been posted but it was new on the Superhero hype frontpage.

Millar's director buddy is Michael Bay.

Basically, ppl on his message board were guessing on directors, he was denying each one. At one point he said 'high octane' and someone guessed michael bay and Millar switched to "I am not saying anything..." rather than denying it. It seemed to be a pretty clear inclination.

Not a fan of Bay though I am intrigued about Millar.

Why?

Aren't we already discussing this in another thread, Mark Millar talks so much about his hope to make a Superman movie, I forget which interview we are on?

because i hear his 'Superman Adventures' comics were supposedly brilliant, and he being a big fan of Superman would prevent the character from being some Batman ripoff and because i think he is good at coming up with cool action setpieces.

i really doubt that after TDK they would go from Singer to Bay.

Sorry for all the hater but i say go Bay if he's in and kudos to WB for having the balls to do such a risky move.

EDIT: The only thing i don't look forward is to see who he casts for Superman. All i hope though is he casts Megan Fox as Lois :D

His ideas of Superman and Lois are awful in my opinion.

ok why would WB hire BAY? why after TDK( an inteligent movie) ?
