Mark Millar's Many Thoughts On Superman

It's always about the money DarkB, always! SR was that type of movie you mention and look how that turned out. Probably WB wants a safe Superman movie, one with lots of action, super villains, no melodrama or overcomplex scheme. Bay is perfect fit for all those options, look at Transformers!

Wait....wait....the big action guy he was referncing was Mike Bay?

Doesn't anyone remember back when Ratner was booted that Bay said he had no interest in doing a Superman movie? It was a radio interview, and he said he really had no desire to do comic book properties.

Bay for more Transformers.
Bay for Superman.

Yup. Bay only took on Transformers because he knew he needed a mainstream hit after The Island.

And despite Tranformers huge success it was still a failure in my eyes because it wasn't a good movie.

The worse thing WB could do to Superman is have Bay direct and Millar write. I would forever be denied a good Superman movie but they would probably make alot of money...yippie!

Transformers was a success because it was a awesome movie and your in the minority. Also have you ever considered that maybe people can find interesting in something new after trying it. Point in case is Bay doing an adaptation which he started with Transformers and not "because he needed a hit". Perhaps he got to liking doing adaptations and saw the potential and how much fun it can be.

Bay had no idea of how Transformers would do at the box office. It was a movie about a line of toys. Bay took a chance and turned it into a hit. It's not like any director could of walked in and made that movie gross 700 million worldwide. Like him or hate him he is one of the hottest directors in Hollywood right now. Another being Chris Nolan.

WB may feel the safe way to go is with Bay. You know what you're going to get. One thing is for sure. The action scenes in a Superman movie with Bay would be a visual feast.

Del Toro had little interest in LOTR, before he met Jackson while talkign about Halo.

Making a movie to please the mainstream audience and a movie to please the hardcore fanbase may be two different things. The hardcore fans wanted the Transformers to transform and look exactly like they did in the cartoon. That would of looked foolish and been wrong imo. And yes many people liked Transformers. The ticket sales don't lie. Superman could do more than a billion dollars with Bay directing. He does blockbusters. That's what he does.

I'd love to see that! :wow:

No doubt!

Josh Duhamel IS Superman!
Kate Becinsale IS Lois!
Ewan McGregor IS Jor-el!
Bruce Willis IS Lex Luthor!

I think Millar is all wrong for Superman...get Geoff Johns to write a script and I'd go see that.

I'd have Mark Waid write a script or outline if I could choose someone.

I voted WB doesn't even know what is going on... how would they? but don't really know why :woot:
