Marsden Talks Cyclops and XMen Spinoffs

When something is cut down from R to PG-13 and was originally intended to be R, then there's reason to worry.

They'll make it PG-13 though.:(

No, they'll just released that "unrated" version when it comes to DVD, like they do with everything else these days.

But doesn't that defeat the intended purpose of keeping the kiddies and families from seeing it?

Of course not. They usually release 'rated' and 'unrated' versions.

Go to see marsden is showing interest even though its highly unlikely for another X-men movie.....As for wolverine I hardly think its gonna be a hit,I think its gonna do Blade type numbers....

i love james marsden. he seems like a pretty cool guy. it almost makes me sad that he won't be in the wolverine one and really nothing else so far. its kind of sad that the poor guy is so eager to help out and continue and no one is really paying cyclops much attention. i hope to god that they bring his character back if there is a fourth one regardless of how likely or believable it may be. go cyclops! :cyclops: i mean theres no character i'm really against, but i would love to see a spinoff about jean and cyclops before the first movie :)

Of course you can make it PG-13! Of course Wolverine has a heavy story! You can make things pretty gosh darned heavy at PG-13!

Plus, I know a lot of parents who don't even let they're teens (ages 13-16) see PG-13! What the hell are they thinkin making it R?

Although I know they will most likely not make it R, I'd say if they did, they'd be the most dumb people I've ever heard of!

I'm curious. Considering how violent Wolverine is how can a movie about him have a rating below R? Wolverine should be hacking off limbs right and left in this spinoff. Or is he just going to stab every victim in chest?:down

i don't think an X4 is entirely out of the question. X3 didn't close the series or any loose ends. we were still left with questions and even for FOX what kind of ending is that. i actually did enjoy the movie, but seriously there were so many open endings for a trilogy closer...

It will prevent many of the Wolverine fans who want to see ferocious barred Wolverine. Not a tame wolverine who merely stabs people in the chest. The Blade movies would have looked really stupid if Blade only stabbed people in the chest to kill them with his one sword. Wolverine has six blades. He should mutilate people.

Well, he was hacking off limbs in X3.

Here's the quote from Hugh Jackman again about the rating:

"I'm sure we'll have pressure to make it a PG-13 movie, but there's also a case for doing an R-rated 'Wolverine'. These are the sort of decisions we'll have to discuss....Truth be told, if you really want to tell Wolverine's story, you're going to have to make the movie pretty heavy at times. But can you make that PG-13? Some directors I've spoken to say, 'Oh, let's make this R-rated.' I can see that film (in my head), but there are other 'Wolverine' movies, too.

I run into kids every day who love this character. At Halloween, I see little Wolverines going around. I don't want to make a film that excludes them,
and maybe we don't need to."

Yeah, isn't that a shame? Not only is he a great guy, but has alot of talent, can sing too, and is actually enthusiastic and a fan of the material and they won't give him enough of a chance to act and really bring things to life.

its kind of sad that the poor guy is so eager to help out and continue and no one is really paying cyclops much attention.

I think part of that has to de with the character. Cyclops can be complicated and has an interesting history of his own, but he's just not one of the flamboyant characters. It's more appropriate for a novel or more dramatic character-driven movie, but doesn't really work for a summer blockbuster, as least as far as the targeted audience is concerned.

Spinoff about Jean and Cyclops that takes place right up to the first movie, hmm? Have you by any chance read "An Accidental Interception of Fate"?

I guess the question is just how realistic and intense do you want to make the movie? I know what you're saying. There should be some serious gore when Wolverine goes into a rage, but that may actually hurt the film, if you have to prevent more of the intended audience from being able to see it because they're too young. Unless you release in theatres versions under 2 different ratings.

Which is why the film won't do that well I don't think. Wolverine is a character with a violent, gritty, and bloody past. There's no way a PG-13 movie could do the story justice.

But hey, I'm sure the Fox and Wolverine loyalists will love it either way. I mean, let's not forget, HE'S POPULAR!!! HE'S THEIR CASHCOW!

If playing with Wolverine on a videogame is so repetitive imagine how repetitive the action will be in the film. I mean just Wolverine nobody else in action. I don't hate wolverine I like the character and such but has a team member not has a seperated guy.

Oy, again with the "loyalist" comments. Four days without the boards and you couldn't at least come up with another ridiculous insult?

It's not entirely possible that some people just happen to like another character better, and have given plenty of valid reasons why? Just because you don't like the reasons doesn't mean those fans have pledged some blind allegiance to a fictional character and a movie studio.

I can deal with the fact that you're mad that Cyclops got screwed in the movies...I even agree to an extent. I think James Marsden seems like a nice guy, is a really good actor, and I can't wait to see him in "Hairspray" so I can finally hear him sing.

But I like Wolverine better. That's just the way it is. That doesn't mean I've sold my soul to Fox...my first job was at a Fox affilate. I hated it there. I have no love for the place.

Even though it's supposedly a prequel for Wolverine, James said he'd love to join the cast if he's asked. "It's prior to our meeting in the first film. Yeah, I feel very lucky to be a part of those films and great affection for the comics and for those characters and I feel very lucky to be a part of it and I would. If they'd have me, I'd be a part of everyone they did."
What a cool guy - he always is so enthusiastic and grateful.

Cyclops spin-off??! When pigs fly.:o

They can drive up interest for an Emma Frost spinoff or even other spinoffs from other more obscure series like Elektra but not for a movie involving Cyclops and include Jean?? Two of the most famous and original characters of the X-men? that's a sad thought.

I would say when these filmmakers and screenwriters evolve to the point they finally know what on the top of their necks are for...somehow I find it will take a longer time than pigs finally learn how to fly.

Well maybe it's a x-3 prequel... that could still work (too bad the same politics tht kept Marsden out of x-3 will keep him out of this one as well...)

Wolverine, Ratner, Rothman, Kinberg, and Penn need to be in that picture.
