I've seen Hairspray today... it was cool. Loved the actors, that's for sure. But love them, love them. I've got a doubt tho; does James sing? Cuz he's got a very nice voice

He seems only sings when his character is required to perform, which it's a shame imo, a voice like that should be heard more often.

James sings the two solo songs: Nicest Kids In Town and It's Hairspray, he also sings with everyone else on You Can't Stop The Beat. They all performed it together on stage on The Today Show.

Even so, those small scenes were really effective. I laughed so much when he accidentally slaps at Amber.
Definetely, the movie was a very entertaining one... but an important defect I saw is that the songs were quite... unoriginal. Don't you think? They kinda remember me the style of those late Disney movies they're doing now e.g. High School Musical

Yeah, I notice it as well, maybe the composers are all channeling each other or it's just a small circle they can't help but pick something similar from each other.

By the way, the xmmficathon is up and running, there are couple of nice stories with Scott in them, if you're interested you can take a look at them.

Gay 4 Pay - Straight Actors in Gay Roles

James Marsden – Heights / The 24th Day

Why is James Marsden first? He’s certainly hot, but that’s not it. He’s done great work, but not the best on this countdown. No, James Marsden is on this countdown because he’s played gay twice—and while Hollywood is practically begging the classically beautiful James to become an A-list megastar, he seems far more interested in playing characters that speak to him, and there’s no doubt in my mind that directors didn’t even have to ask twice to get him to play gay in the psychological thriller/AIDS drama The 24th Day and the ensemble drama Heights.

His is a very natural screen presence—he doesn’t shy away from the gay kiss, he’s emotionally invested in both characters, and even when he turns around and plays Cyclops, for a paycheck, in the X-Men movies, you’re all but guaranteed to know what he’d rather be doing. I truly apologize for this cheesy clip—apparently, the only person who’s ever seen and loved Heights enough to put a clip on You Tube also likes The Backstreet Boys.

Original article is here.

Check the vid if you haven't seen Heights.
24th Day is one of my favorite movies  , James's character makes me sympathize with and resent him at the same time.

Its a good trailer, he does have a nice smile.

"X-Men" vet Marsden joins Diaz in horror

James Marsden, who caught the public's attention playing Cyclops in the "X-Men" trilogy, is in final negotiations to star opposite Cameron Diaz in the horror film "The Box."

They will play an unhappily married couple who receive a box from a stranger who tells them that if they push a button on the box, they'll receive a hefty amount of cash -- and someone they don't know will die.
Director Richard Kelly adapted the $30 million project from the Richard Matheson short story "Button, Button," first published in Playboy in 1970. Matheson adapted the story for an episode of CBS' mid-'80s revival of "The Twilight Zone."

Marsden, whose credits also include "Hairspray" and "Superman Returns," stars opposite Katherine Heigl in the upcoming romantic comedy "27 Dresses."

ShockTillYouDrop.com has posted the full official synopsis for the film, which you can read here.

In addition, The Hollywood Reporter says that Marsden will do a cameo in Sean Anders' teen sex comedy "Sex Drive."

A Horror movie! surprised. Something new for him. I like it.

And next? I hope a good drama, and in the main role, of course.

The beard is probably his new style for his next movie.

There's a pic of him, heard this is the AD he did for GAP.
I don't know how come he can make even a sweater look extraordinarily good on him.

I just saw the trailer to enchanted...he perfect for the role...I liked when the was talking to the magic mirror..LOL

Lol yes... even though the film is going to be a complete piece of crap, I'll watch it because of James.

Ha, I just looked at the tomatometer on RottenTomatoes receiving a 100% (!!!) so I'm beginning to get quite intrigued. Only 3 days for the premiere.........

Well seen "Enchanted" today. It wasn't a piece of crap, but almost was.

3 years of working on this film only to come up with predictable and unoriginal story? You dissapoint again, Disney. They really need Pixar.
I liked the idea though- you can face reality in a positive way... but the development... blah.

James didn't have enough time to shine...although his character had so little personality that that didn't matter. He was just like Charming Prince in Shrek.
But I laughed so much with "I don't know what melodramatic means, but.."

A film to watch on a Sunday afternoon, if you're really bored... :down

I haven't seen the movie yet so I can't make judgement right now, but I think all the Disney Princes has only one type of personality- the larger-than-life one, and the prince in Shrek is kind of like a creepy mama's boy and a whiny baby if I remember correctly, I honestly hope Prince Edward would be better than him.

But I'm prepared for the worst, I've reading some reviews from friends that this movie doesn't turn out as good as they expect.

I saw it tonight, I loved it! It started off a little silly, and I was worried it was going to fall flat from what I was expecting, but once it got going I really enjoyed it. It was just a very sweet movie.

I'm a huge Disney animation fan, and there were a ton of references to a lot of the classic animated films and a few cool cameos (the actresses who voiced Belle, Pocahantas, and Ariel all appeared in the film) that made the movie a lot of fun to watch too.

Plus it had James Marsden running around Times Square with billboards for Superman Returns and Hairspray in the background (although it was the B'way version of Hairspray). :cwink:

His character wasn't really like Prince Charming from Shrek. He was kind of a goofball, and a little full of himself like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, but he was a nice guy (unlike Gaston). And for once (spoiler!) [blackout]while he doesn't get the girl in the movie, he does get a girl, and that scene was really sweet[/blackout].

It was a fun movie. It's not going to redefine the way fairy tales are told...but it was very enjoyable. :woot:

freakin amazing. james looks amazing as always. i hope he takes his shirt off! :yay:

he really is diverse too! i like that. i really hope he has another great year. he has so much potential for being a mega star.
