Marvel gets back Punisher & Blade ??

I don't think Marvel should do anything with Punisher for awhile. If they can get other rights like DD back in the future (if DD reboot tanks), then perhaps they can make a Marvel Knights movie instead.

Wasn't there a some news about a potential fourth blade movie coming out? Will Marvel be able to continue the franchise or do they have no choice but to reboot?

Punisher, whilst I enjoyed both movies I think holding off on making another one anytime soon is a great idea.

Now time for the FF to return home but I doubt fox will let it slide that easily.

Blade - Marvel should do what they did with Hulk. Do a sequel that just picks up and makes no reference to the previous films. Michael Jai White is a fine successor to Snipes.

Punisher - I wouldn't mind some of the War Zone cast returning, just don't make another joke of a movie and he'll be fine.

I'm glad they get back Punisher. Marvel is the only studio that can do the character justice i'm sure.

I'd like marvel to try and put punisher on TV. A gritty story driven TV show could prove successful an HBO type series, starring Jon hamm as Frank castle.

Punisher is a property perfect for TV.It involves no special effects just a guy on a mission of punishment. If they used Garth Ennis's work as template it be great.Blade I believe needs a rest for a while.

Everybody knew of the punisher but i didn't know of blade

But they had already anounce punisher some months ago and that they were planing on a Frank Castle movie

I know, I was talking about blade. He was just announced.

oh, ok, thanks.
Sounds promising, i think both characters would work well on tv but blade should be more monster/ vamppire of the week a la buffy

I think blade can be great once again on the silver screen. We just need a fresh take, much like the what new Spiderman series has begun to accomplish. But only time will tell.

In case anyone's wondering, I posted a fancast for a Blade reboot @ **************. Click here to check it out.

And here's my cast:

Michael Jai White as Blade (Eric Brooks)
Well, what can I tell you? He's the fan favorite. I once had him as Luke Cage in my New Avengers and Marvel Knights fancasts, but in the latter, DDD hammered me that Mikey wasn't tall enough and suggested I go with Henry Simmons. Then there's the fact that Idris Elba is campaigning for the role. So, to honor everyone's best intent, I decided to go along with the group and cast him as Blade. But it is for the best, because he has the voice, height, and black belts in 7 styles of martial arts.

Morgan Freeman as Jamal Afari
With Christopher Nolan's Batman film franchise coming to an end, I guess it's time for their principle cast members to find new work. In terms of Morgan Freeman, he'd be perfect as the man who Blade rescues and, in return, offers to help him.

Malcolm McDowell as Quincy Harker
If you disagree with this, you have no taste in movies. Malcolm's career goes back to the days of A Clockwork Orange, and since then, he has played various characters like the eerie, yet sympathetic Sam Loomis in the 'Halloween' remakes, Principal Gibbons in the Emma Stone smash 'Easy A', and many more. His wisdom and sympathetic approach to characters would be perfect for the leader of a squad of vampire hunters.

Ethan Hawke as Frank Drake
I hear Ryan Phillipe is popular for this role, but I have him for Angel in my upcoming 'X-Men 2' fancast (see 'The Lincoln Lawyer'). Meanwhile, the best choice to play someone on the road to redemption is an actor who's practically played characters like this his whole career, Ethan Hawke. Proof: 'Assault on Precinct 13', 'Brooklyn's Finest', and 'Daybreakers' (this united him with the Spierig brothers; joy!)

Maggie Grace as Rachel Van Helsing
Some of you may recognize her as my choice for Sharon Carter back when I did my 'Secret Avengers' cast early this year. However, since Amanda Righetti is now playing the Ultimate version (the one with red hair), now I need to give her a new role. This one, little did I know that MrMurdockk used her already. But Maggie not only looks like the spitting image of Abraham Van Helsing's granddaughter, but I think she'd be capable of playing an intelligent role for the first time.

Damian Lewis as Hannibal King
I know people want him as Banshee, i.e. DDD himself, but I've got someone else in mind. Damian Lewis, to me, looks like the spitting image of Hannibal King. And unlike Ryan Reynolds, he'll be capable of playing it straight rather than a goofball in 'Blade: Trinity'. It doesn't hurt also that Lewis looks like a vampire.

Abhishek Bachchan as Taj Nital
I lack knowledge of the character. Therefore, I relied on teabag's 'Tomb of Dracula' fancast to find this actor. He's got an excellent build, and has a great resume in Bollywood movies.

Eva Green as Lilith
I think Eva Green deserves a better role than Scarlet Witch, and I've got a pick for the character that'll cause you to stain your pants at level red. I've seen that steamy sex scene from 'Camelot' that she was in, and she was pretty damn intense during that. And with that presence, she'd be excellent as the vengeful daughter of Dracula.

Ian McShane as Dracula
Dominic Purcell's portrayal of Dracula in 'Blade: Trinity' was a wet blanket. And it's sad, since his work in 'Prison Break' was surprisingly good. I can see why people want him to play roles like Scorpion for a new 'Spider-Man' movie. Well, for the new 'Blade' movie universe, I chose someone who can bring menace and charisma to the character of the mythical legend. Watch Ian's movies that he's been in: 'Kung-Fu Panda' as Tai Lung, 'Pirates of the Carribean: On Strange Tides' as Blackbeard, 'Shrek the Third' as Captain Hook... I could go on.

Tobin Bell as Deacon Frost
Now, I'll be upfront and say that Stephen Dorff's portrayal of Deacon in the first 'Blade' movie was really good. And he made an excellent foil that the character has been the whole time. However, for the reboot, I'd like to see someone who looks aged like the character, and who better than the guy who brought Jigsaw to life in the 'Saw' movies. Tobin has that very creepy voice, but on the whole, he can play intense and intelligent villains. For the film, I see Deacon Frost as someone who aligns with Dracula to even the playing field between him and Blade.

Lol, that's not what they did with Hulk.
Yes it is, they did a vague origin in the credits and then continued along with the story which was basically done because they assumed the audience was familiar with the last film.

Maybe you could allude to the Punisher attempting to hunt down the Hulk, or Nick Fury could just look through some pictures with the Punisher and Blade when trying to find additional people to join the Avengers.

Or they could just put Punisher on the cover of a newspaper. I've always thought that a Punisher film set during the 70's could work.

For me, the Punisher is done for a while, the best thing they could do in my eyes is ignore WZ and do a sequel with Tom Jane, but as that aint happening I think they should leave him for a bit.

As for Blade, a re-boot is out of the question for me personally, Trinity just didnt finish the franchise off in a satisfying way, so a Blade 4 is the only option in my eyes, with Snipes returning of course.

I do like the idea of a Marvel anti-hero crossover film event. I really think there are some great characters they can use: Punisher, Blade, Luke Cage, Moon Knight, Iron Fist, Dagger, Doctor Strange, Elektra, and Shang-Chi. Never mind the potential that Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and Wolverine would add here should their rights ever be reacquired. This really is an untapt resource for Marvel storytelling. In can be interconnected like The Avengers but not have to include any of the characters and stories from Avengers.

Although it's a ways away rights wise I personally would love to see a film adaptation of "Hearts of Darkness" which featured Punisher, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider vs. Blackheart. It was one of Marvel's best stories and it could really work well on screen. Perhaps a trilogy of tie-in films featuring each of the three characters with a post-credit scene where they receive an offer from Blackheart.

Question though, with Avengers coming out, wouldn't Blade and Punisher be apart of Disney? Or would they go to their off-shoot, Dimension Films?

Yes it is, they did a vague origin in the credits and then continued along with the story which was basically done because they assumed the audience was familiar with the last film.

No, they showed a vague origin in the beginning and further explained what happened as the film went on, the story continued on because they assumed the audience was familiar with the character, not the last film. They tried to distance themselvs from ang Lees hulk.

Nah, The Punisher can still be a viable project (and hopefully done right) because it doesn't take any big budget effects to bring that character to life on the screen. I've always liked the character and have faith a good Punisher movie can be made. I didn't mind the movie with Thomas Jane but at the same time it didn't really feel like a Punisher movie to me.

The thing is, the punisher has had 3 movies already, two of which were reboots, and only one of them was financially viable (and just barely). If they do a third reboot then Punisher is just going to become a running joke. The only way that another Punisher project would work is if they do a gritty, realistic TV show on HBO, Showtime or FX like many people have suggested. That could actually work out pretty well if it's done well enough to keep an audience, however as a movie franchise I think Punisher is done, especially seeing as Marvel won't even make another Hulk movie.

Wasn't there a some news about a potential fourth blade movie coming out? Will Marvel be able to continue the franchise or do they have no choice but to reboot?

The Terminator movie license has changed hands several times but has never rebooted, so I don't see why it wouldn't be the same with Blade. Marvel's best bet with the Blade franchise is Blade 4, because the movie version of Blade is the only one anyone knows anyway. As has been said before, a reboot would either have to live in the shadow of the original or start from square one in terms of building an audience.

In other words, I'm pretty sure Marvel is either going to make Blade IV through Touchstone or not bother with it at all. However, Marvel does have that new Blade anime which could be a hit.
