Marvel Knights

I'm pretty sure this will be locked down to my ignorance of some well known fact, but I'm really curious as to why P:WZ is being released with the name Marvel Knights attached.

Is this branch of Marvel Studios dedicated to the darker side of their company?

Actually, no, it wouldn't be ignorance to a well-known fact. Unless I'm ignorant of it too, no one knows what Marvel Knights means yet.

I'd be inclined to agree with you that Marvel is going to use it to put alongside their more darker productions. However, I wouldn't go as far as to say that Marvel Studios (their film producing branch, IE TIH/IM) itself is going to make R-rated films.

I'm in the same boat as you two. I'm thinkin the Marvel Knights may be leaning towards their darker characters.

If (and hopefully) anothe X-Men team movie is made, and the next Spider-Man movies are made, I'm thinkin these will still have the regular "MARVEL" Logo.

But if a Daredevil Reboot is made, and perhaps another Blade movie is made, I'm think a MARVEL Knights Logo will be used.

Or they want to keep the comic flip logo for there own films and Knights for ones that are with other studios. I guess we'll see with the Wolverine trailer.

Check out the new P:WZ TV spot.

Instead of the usualy "MARVEL" red Logo, the spot has a black and white "MARVEL Knights" Logo.

Just something a little interesting. Like they said, we'll see what happens with the Wolverine teaser

thisll be for darker flicks i almost guarentee it...
since they're looking at Punisher for franchise material, Fox is doing Daredevil revival/reboot/requel, and theres always talk of Black Widow flick... i bet thisll be for darker characters, maybe that Dr Strange flick thats a couple years out

yeah because the logo guarantees box office and critical success


I think it's Marvel's way of saying this isn't a Marvel Studios movie, but like the Marvel Knights comics, an offshoot of the regular Marvel Universe. Marvel needs to get the rights back to all of their characters and do a Daredevil movie under the Marvel Knights banner. It would be like what Disney did when they created Miramax studios back in the 90's.

Won't happen. Fox seems set on rebooting Daredevil, there's a new Wolverine movie coming out, and there's going to be 2 more Spider-Mans. I think that pretty much ensures that all the studios aren't done with their properties. Marvel is going to have to make due with what they HAVEN'T sold off.

Why do you think I said Marvel needs to get the rights back? If they had the money they could buy the rights back but I suspect Sony and FOX would be asking a lot of money for selling the rights back.

They're not going to sell them back. Why would they? You can make a good 200-300+ million per movie worldwide+DVD sales, and then there's sequel possibilities. No studio in it's right mind would ever give that up. MAYBE they could buy back Punisher, since it is the least profitable (outside of maybe Ghost Rider) but besides that, there's no way they can muster the kind of money Fox or Sony would want.

im fine w/fox's x-franchise besides X3... and wolverine looks good.
i love the first daredevil especially the directors cut. elektra needs to be rebooted in a big bad way though. i dig both F4 movies that fox has... to be fair they're cheesy and dumb but fun to watch... and i love all three spideys which i know ill take crap for.

Ghost rider is a **** character. Everyone likes him only because he looks cool but he didn't deserve his own movie.
