I don't dig that :(. Ah well. Between Mikaboshi and the Demogorge, I'm burnt out on "god-killers)

Thor's in an awkward pose there. King Thor in the background steals his thunder.

The A-Next armor would be cool as a one-off shoutout. As a "main" suit, not so much.

That might be Odin unless in Thor's future he loses an eye too.

It would be really nice if all of these new, 4 dollar books shipped just once a month.

I like the length of Mjolnir's hilt on that cover though. Some artists draw it comically short, to the point where he looks like he can barely hold it w/ 1 hand.

None of the girl hammers will want to go out with him now.

I don't know, I hear girl hammers like a longer shaft.

[blackout] Hoo, boy.[/blackout]

Aaron + Ribic =

That team could be writing Squirrel Girl and I'd buckle up for it.

That does sound awesome.I might eventually get this in trade.I want to read more classic Thor stuff before I get into the modern stuff.

You're crazy. Gillen's Uncanny run has been fantastic. That Phalanx issue was amazing.
Yeahbutno. I'm sorry. Telling a first-person tale via a throw-away character that doesn't even attempt to mask its melodramatic attempt to tug the heart-strings with its, at best, little bit of laughable emotion is not good writing.

But the art was good. I'm a big fan of Brandon Peterson. Just, Gillen gets no credit for that.

Yeah THIS. Not just the Phalanx issue but the UXM point 1 issue with Magneto, the arc with SWORD and Unit and the current Mr Sinister story.

I'll say this about Gillen's run on Uncanny compared to his other work on Thor and Journey into Mystery (which is the best work I've seen from him) is that UXM has been held back from it's true potential under Gillen because of the editorial mandate with AvX and stuff. He hasn't really been able to settle in and get comfy because everything has been building to AvX since Schism.
Even if you can't tell the story you want to tell, you can still tell a good story. I'm sorry, but sometimes that's what being a professional writer is all about. And I realize that's an idealist stance I'm taking - no need to point that out - but there's no reason he couldn't write good tie-in issues. Because he has. While the initial ones sucked - oh good, you're elaborating on battles from the core story that you've given little to no gravitas for within the issue, thank you so much - the most recent tie-in issues have been much better, even with me thinking he does a melodramatic and overly piss-poor job of writing Sinister.

The first arc was poor - the Breakworld stuff. It went from blatantly moronic set-up to an attempt at a slasher comic. His Fear Itself tie-ins were quite good. I want to say I didn't hate how he closed off the established volume of Uncanny in time for the relaunch, which had another faltering start, because the first Sinister issues were hit-and-miss. Not or. They were both.

And yes, Unit is good.

The reason, by the way, I do assault Gillen so much on the Phalanx issue is because of how damn good he actually is at writing his characters. His plots seem to suck, for whatever reason. I don't care to speculate, and there's really no point to. But he gets the characters he chooses as his cast, and executes them rather without much flaw.

Here's the interview with Mark Waid, and Leinil Yu at comicbookresources:http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=40326

The cover:

After that interview, I'm sold on it. I'm not the biggest Leinil fan in the world but I like some of the ideas Waid is putting out there. Plus Maria Hill is a main character and she can be awesome when in the right hands.

I reeeeally wish there were a different artist on that book.

How do you people not like Yu?

Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk was awesome. As was his NA run.

I find his stuff incomplete sometimes. His characters look to brooding, there's no range of emotion in them, just a lot of blank stares.

He's a guy better suited as a full time cover artist.

And I'm not so sure I'd use Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk for any argument.

Nice cover and info for hulk book. Sounds like a nice book. Not much a hulk fan but I hear waid dd run been great.

Ya I would rread it but with price of books these days I just sticking to my current pull list.

I think Land on Iron Man can work. The cover shown so far looks good and honestly, I don't think that I would mind if he just kept on tracing Robert Downey Jr. and Gweneth Paltrow.

It just troubles me that he traces, and is getting paid for it. I really love the character of Iron Man though, and Kieron Gillen is a really good writer. I just think Marvel could have put a better artist on their new IM book. I'm really excited for it though, but I don't really like Land for how he works.
