Marvel Now

Outside of the Avengers, I don't think we'll see more double shipping right away from the rest of the books. They may wait until the first flurry of new titles are released.

Amazing Spider-Man will undoubtedly continue double shipping, All-New X-Men will be double ship, FF is essentially Marvel's way of double shipping Fantastic Four, and by adding in New Avengers they're essentially triple shipping Hickman's run on Avengers.

I still think they'll wait until the first sales numbers come in for NOW before they get across the board crazy with double shipping.

I think I'll be getting...

Captain America
Fantastic Four (trying it because I love the FF)
FF (trying it because I love Allred)
Indestructible Hulk

Right now I'm leaning towards picking up:

THOR: GOD OF THUNDER
Jason Aaron's my favourite Marvel writer, Esad Ribic is my favourite Marvel artist, and they're working on my favourite corner of the Marvel universe. Shut up and take my money!

IRON MAN
I'm a big fan of Kieron Gillen, and think his wit will be a fine match for the world of Tony Stark. My big reservation, however, is Greg Land's art. So still not quite sure if I'll make the leap with this.

THE INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK
I've never been a big fan of the Hulk comics. Even Jason Aaron couldn't quite hook me on the character. But between how much I liked Hulk in The Avengers, and Mark Waid being on a roll, I'm willing to give this a shot.

What I'm currently getting:

- Avengers, I have a lot of hope for Hickman's Avengers

- Deadpool, my Deadpool collection is almost as obsessive as my Aquaman collection. Like the last Deadpool books, I'll probably end up getting all the variant covers I can get for this one.

- Fantastic Four, Fraction is kinda selling me on this one

- Indestructible Hulk, why is this not titled Incredible Hulk? But Waid's comments saying how this will be more like his run on Daredevil in tone makes me excited for this book

- Iron Man, Gillen's a great writer and I think that I'm actually okay with Land on Iron Man as opposed to all the other books he's done.

- Thor, God of Thunder, this sounds awesome as well.

As for the books I'm passing on, I'm passing on FF, Allred's great but the book doesn't seem all that appealing and I'm not sure about All-New X-Men yet.

If only Marvel had DC's pricing structure, I'd probably be buying almost everything.

I'm only considering Indestructible Hulk (for Waid), Fantastic Four (still iffy on Fraction), and FF (again Fraction, but Allred is great and it does seem interesting). However, I was really hoping to cut down on my comics (especially Marvel comics since I'm sure all of these will be 3.99) so it will probably be easier just to skip them all :o

Getting for sure:
Indestructible Hulk- Waid has been killing it over on Daredevil, I liked him before but he's on fire right now and its been a while since I was really interested in Hulk so I'm on board for this.

Deadpool- I like Posehn's standup a lot and the concept for the first arc sounds like a lot of fun. Plus, my wife loves all things Deadpool so it'll surely be in my house, just I'll actually be reading it for once.

Thor: God of Thunder- Hate to admit I've never read a Jason Aaron book but this sounds like it'll be great and I really like the concept.

Uncanny Avengers- For Remender's writing, he has yet to write a series I don't enjoy. Cassaday's art is questionable but I can't imagine he'll actually be around for the whole run.

Avengers- Loved Hickman's Fantastic Four and its about time we had new blood on the main Avengers book (I've been a comics reader for 10 years and 8 of those were under Bendis' tenure, so I'm more than ready)

Wait and see:

New Avengers- I'm on board for getting this as long as it isn't just the other Avengers book and is an actual worthwhile book on its own.

Captain America- Like I said, I like Remender's stuff. However, I've never really read much Cap and since this will likely be 3.99 if money gets tight it would probably be one of the first ones I drop so I might just trade wait instead.

Fantastic Four- I like Fantastic Four a lot and I'm a big fan of Bagley's art (Ultimate Spider-Man was my gateway drug to comics) but I'm less sold on Matt Fraction. His Thor stuff started out pretty good but quickly went to crap and I abandoned ship and Fear Itself was terrible. His idea for the book sounds fun though and I took a chance on the first issue of Hawkeye and loved it so if the previews are good I'll probably pick it up.

FF- The same thoughts as on Fantastic Four though I'm even less sold on this book. I like the FF book as it is so its a shame to see it change but at least their giving it a rehaul which justifies the relaunch of the title somewhat. The team they've picked is such an oddball choice that this book will either be genius or a nightmare (who the hell is Miss Thing?).

Pass:

Iron Man- Never really followed the character and while I'm a big fan of Journey Into Mystery Gillen hasn't really said anything about it that's got me terribly excited about it. Land doesn't do much for me either.

All New X-Men- Bendis + Team Book= Hell no from me.

Also, it seems like Marvel is really cutting back on the X-Men books, right? They're canceling three X-Men books and only launching one new one. Although I'm sure within a year they'll be going 15 X-Men titles strong.

No, the two FF comics should be $2.99.

At least that's what the covers that Marvel have released say.

They'll probably replace at least one of them with X-Men: Earth's Mightiest Heroes the companion book to Uncanny Avengers.

You know they would do it.

I meant to also add Hickman's Avengers to the list. Just Avengers, though. Not New Avengers, Secret Avengers, Constipated Avengers, etc....

Actually just looked at the cover of the Deadpool book and it is remaining 2.99.So in light of that I'll probably keep buying it.

The best think about this Marvel Now is its not a reboot, I was a bit annoyed when DC announced The New 52 as I was already struggling to keep up anyways hehe. I like the fact the continuity is remaining intact, but I really don't understand the whole point of it I mean I know AvX is a major event that will leave a impact on the Marvel Universe but...I dunno. I just don't know what to think of it yet.

It's just an excuse to roll out shiny new #1s.I feel like they do this after every event so it doesn't feel much different.

That sounds more like it would be a segment in a comic called Everyday Avengers or something focusing on the ***** that they do when they aren't superheroing. Other segmetns would probably include "Hawkeye and Captain America Go to the Movies", "Spider-Man Gets a Rectal Exam" or "Black Widow Buys Some Groceries"

I would read the **** out of that.

Personally I don't mind asm double shipping just helps getting more issues out per yr. And helps gets arcs done and out quicker pace. Which I am a fan of. Now I do say three times a month period was a bit much. But since I mostly just read asm/na/ucsm double shipping gives me more to read each month.

I too would love to venture out to some other characters. But prrice is always the factor. Man makes me wish I was around when books where a buck or less. But I started collecting full time around 2.25 price. Only other book I am waiting on is new avengers to see who is in the group.

I suppose not, I mean most of the time they return to their original numbering anyways right?

Anything to boost the sales of an individual issue. Honestly after Marvel relaunching so much and the new 52, I don't care if they never go back to original numbering.Maybe comics should just relaunch every couple of years. That way people can have the runs they want by whatever writer and/or artist they like and people won't buy comics just to be completists.

Ya I hate renumbering deal and for f4 case they just hit 600. But like when they renumbered asm before what was it 400 or 500. Once each of f4/ironman/thor get close to breaking another big number we likely will see old numbers back.

The relaunch thing is getting a bit ridiculous as far frequency and the amount of time between them. I've been reading comic books for ten years and in that time I think they've relaunched Captain America about 4 times and I want to say it was relaunched not too many years before that. I also think Iron Man's been relaunched about 3 times over the past ten years and I wanna say Thor has too, though technically, if you want to get very technical, Thor, The Mighty Thor and Thor: God of Thunder are actually different series, but that doesn't really matter cause they'll just factor the numbers of all of those in, along with the issues of Journey Into Mystery probably, whenever they decided its time to have him hit a big number and charge 7 dollars for an anniversary issue.

If they're trying to avoid potential new readers getting their panties in a bunch over high numbers they could just relaunch under a new adjective or subtitle every time the current series reaches 13 issues or so.

So is anybody keeping track? How many one word teasers have we not had identified yet? The "Legacy" one is the only one that I can think of at this point.
