Will Marvel Comics ever get back to normal again? Am I the only one tired of the constant chaos? Of not knowing the good guys from the bad guys? When identities were secret? When story lines lasted two to three books and didn't over lap into every book that wasn't an Archie Comic?.

There have been some good stories out of this. But I am now tapped out on all of this. And it seems endless.... Civil War went straight to Dark Reign....and it's anyone's guess how long they will drag this out. Oh and don't forget "War of the Kings" with the Inhumans.... Geez!

I've stopped reading many of these Marvel books. Nova seems to be the only book not tainted......that still has that old school feel.

Anybody else feelin' me??

I remembered how I used to hate how Daredevil was always omitted from major events, as if his title was closed off from the rest of the Marvel Universe...

...its because Daredevil has been spared the Civil War/World War Hulk/Secret Invasion tie-ins that its still worth reading.

I can go either way. One the one hand, I like to see my series progress and evolve. On the other hand, the entire MU has become just one major event after the other, and most of the evolution is dependent on these six month long status quo changing crossovers that radically alter what didn't need to be changed at all.

I think Marvel comics is better than ever right now because of everything thats been happening. HOWEVER, i definitely agree that these constant changes and events are exhausting. I really wish that they would keep some of these status quo changes longer than 6 months, cause there have been some great ones (Tony Stark director of shield, Bucky Captain America, Intelligent Hulk, separate avengers teams etc...). I hope marvel takes a long break until the next event and plays with their new status quo's for a while.

That's kinda why I like Nova.....he's outta that loop. They injected him into the Skrull thing near the end. But I could live with that.

So you want Black Reign to be the norm? That's why I'm talking about all the negative stories coming outta Marvel..... I'm tired of bad guys winning and good guys not knowing what to do.

Ghost Rider also works on the fringe of the Marvel Universe, away from the Skrulls and the Dark Reign. Its highly worth picking up.

Probably wont change until Quasada leaves, and even then, it's entirely possible that Bendis might take over after he's done.

They favored the villains cause they thought they were cool.
Now they becomes the heroes, so now who's the fool?

Ah, but is not conflict the essence of story telling?

Yeah they should tone things down a bit. At least put a little distance between events but as long as they're good stories, bring em on.

We are looking at his third intergalactic war in as many years, you know.

The space events are just as much events as Marvel's mainline events. It's just that they're you know, awesome, totally great and *****in' events.

The status quo changing events definately come too often. It's ridiculous, but doesn't Secret Invasion only take place a couple months away from the start of New Avengers?!

For a status quo to actually mean something, there needs to be an actual status quo.

It's gotten to the point that with delays and everything, the tie-ins to the next big event come out right after the last big event just concluded.

All these big, dark, convoluted changes are exhausting to readers, and turn away potential new fans. Joe Q destroyed the Spider-Man marriage because he was afraid the character was unrelatable to kids? How's about not having him unmask, beat down on his fellow heroes, get his aunt shot, then make a deal with the devil that will change the universe forever? Yeah, those things really draw in children and their parents.

Yeah....I guess kids can't relate to a hero and clearly defined villain anymore?

Same reason why as a Punisher fan these huge events don't affect me much. Although they have been slowly putting him back in there. Just on that fine edge. I'm just glad he's not the center of attention like he and Wolverine were in the early 90's. Made it hard to keep up when I am a Punisher completest.

Do yourself a favor and start reading new DC comics :D

The only problem I have is with all of the constant HUGE EVENTS. Other than that, I just like seeing where my favorite characters go next. I hate cheap stories though. I hope I never have to deal with a OMD scale atrocity.

Me too. It's not that I didn't enjoy CW or SI or whatever, but one a year equates to half a year being the event and the other six months being the build up to the event and the aftermath. All of it concludes just in time for the build up to the next big event. So a lot of titles get sucked into all these tie-ins and it sucks.

I like how the X-men went years without a major crossover and to a point they pretty much stayed out of Marvel U's mega events. Now they have an underlying mega event that is being broken up into a trilogy (Messiah Complex, Messiah War, & Messiah ?) as not to burden the readers with way to much information in so little time. The rest of MU could take a cue. Secret Invasion, Civil War, House of M, Dark Reign etc would work better if they spread them out. As soon as you leave Civil War your fall directly into Secret Invasion then right into Dark Reign (plus they're $3.99 a piece)...at times it's not worth it. So as soon as DR ends we'll probably fall into 'Heroes Redeemed'

I am a fan of reading the books, and seeing an evolution in the book. But, like what alot of people here have stated, the 6 Month long event followed by 5 months of aftermath is getting to be a little much.

I have to say though, i don't mind the bad guys geting some lime light. Without them, there is no point of conflict. Yeah so what if Norman is like head honcho of shield. We all know that someone like Fury will come and kick his *&^ and take over.

wells my thoughts on the subject( as if anybody cared) are that i grew up reading when ,except when for Wolverine was introduced Heroes didnt kill.Punisher was pretty much just a bad guy. i know marvel's characters have always threaded on the fine line. which is what made them such great characters, but They never crossed that line.I dont particular dig this new set. War machince blasting alway criminals.Hawkeye Swearing to kill skrulls. Black Widow blasting away skrulls. i was especially disappointed when 3D man blew away crusader after he had denounced the skrullls and turn away to save the earth, that wasnt necessary. i know comics reflect the times in society, and this might've been good for a bush/cheney era, but i personally like to tell my Heroes without a score card. theres a reason why Superman's book" whats wrong with truth and justice says alot about Heroes who kill.... ok so now i will be on my way and take my soapbox with me.

Right. So it's not a matter of a character not being interesting enough for a certain story line..

Basically everybody is the Punisher now...

Superman is still the shining light.

Back in the day there was the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

Now it's more like the Righteous, the Weak, and the Bad-Ass.

But to me there is now the truly 'aw shucks' Good, while everybody else is UGLY!
